Exactly what I needed
These strikers have the perfect edge on them. The metal clip that comes with them is durable and high quality. Would highly recommend!

Got sparks ?
I don't like to use my expensive bushcraft knives for striking ferro rods,or even baton/chop with them. Some folks think I am a wuss for that-[a good knife should do it all]. I agree, but I prefer having a choiceand these strikers are perfect for ferro rods. They are true 90 degreesharp edges, large enough to easily use with gloves on, which may evenbe preferred because the edges are so pronounced.I have used many of the strikers on the market, including many knives tostrike with, and have had many more [options] brought by my students. These have repeatedly worked far better that any others, and have come up'lost' (stolen) more than once. Almost every [student] has shown up thenext time we meet with these, after having used them prior.Very affordable, just gotta love a tool that works like it is supposed to.Obviously [maybe, maybe not ?] a good tinder bundle, waxed cotton ball, waxed jute/hemp, great featherstick [which is one reason why I keep myknife in the best shape/condition I can, or even to use as a KNIFE] is themain ingredient for a successful fire, and these strikers are capable ofa single-strike fire. A quality ferro rod is a plus.P.S. These strikers have been the absolute best for those that are just learning to throw a spark.

Favorite scraper. Will be buying several more.
Honestly, these BSGB HSS scrapers are utterly magnificent and tied for the best scrapers for ferro rods and/or material to create tinder I have ever used. I do not say that lightly. I have used all manner of items, maybe close to everything to scrape ferro rods. Hacksaw blades, the spine of a knife or saw, old files cut to size and the edges ground to a sharp 90 degrees, really just anything that will hold an edge and remove material from a ferro rod. I only have one other designated scraper (meaning it is a scraper and scraper only, not the spine of a knife or saw. Not a squared off tool like the ESEE fire steel) that works as well. It will run you about $35-$40 + shipping. It has been unmatched until I started using these great tools. You can’t beat these for the price. At the time I purchased these, the price was $13 for 2 scrapers. You can do the math and see which is better for your wallet. They do have “sharp” edges the entire length. So some folks may benefit by wrapping a little duct tape around the base, where their hand will be, which will still allow plenty of area for scraping.HSS family steels are extremely tough and they will hold an edge for a ridiculously long time when scraping ferro rods or materials for tinder. If you don’t know what high speed steel is, here is a quick and dirty explanation. It’s primary function is to be as a cutting tool. Machinists use it to remove and cut steel. So keep in mind it is steel that’s job is to cut steel. I went to school and worked as a machinist. I have ground HSS into tools by hand and have used them to make parts to meet specs. So I can attest to the strength and durability of HSS.Once you have the angle down, it does not take much pressure at all to get the big and long burning sparks that you want and need.

Tons of sparks! Works great.
I bought these to make a necklace, never intending to use it as my daily driver striker, but I tried it and these are fantastic! *Tons* of sparks everywhere. These things throw off sparks like fireworks. Immediately found a permanent place in my bag.

Great strikers
The media could not be loaded. Really good quality. Plus there was a bonus striker that I either overlooked in the description or was just extra. Either way this is a great addition to my kit.

Spark thrower
These are great strikers. I have fairly large hands and the short strikers don’t always allow for a solid stroke. These work just as well as a knife spine and are easy to carry with your ferro rod. Obviously the spine of a quality bushcraft knife will work just as well but risking damage to your knife or it’s edge in a survival situation is to be avoided if possible. It’s also worth noting that not using a razor sharp knife to strike your steel eliminates the risk of injury when tired, wet, cold, or stressed. These allow for great sparks and you can leave your blade in its sheath for when it’s really needed.

Great Striker!
I tried this striker 5 times on a 1/2x 5 inch fero rod. It threw plenty of sparks. About half hit the ground from apx. 8 feet in the air. It bit into the fero rod very well. I could not see any noticeable wear on the striker and the edge I used stayed sharp. I have not tried using the end with serrations on fatwood. I think the same edge used for the rod would make lots of tinder also. It is 4 inches long and a little over 1/2 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick. It has a lanyard hole with a ring and clip. altogether it weighs .9 ounce. it has a good sturdy feel. I would purchase this striker again.

BEST FERRO STRIKER EVER
So I’ve always used the spine of my knife, which works great, but I never thought anything could work better. These strikers throw SO many sparks off my Bayite 6” ferro rod!
