Much pleased to use this pepper grinder. It does however have minor lapses in grinding (rare) but so do most that I have used. A good buy for one looking for good performance, ease of use and good aesthetics.

We do value a good salt grinder in our Kitchen - and the AdHoc Smoos Salt/Pepper Geared Mill - Manual Salt & Pepper Mill with a Gear Crank System is the very best we have ever used - hands down!!It is easy to load; it grinds flawlessly; is easy to use; and is an attractive addition to our kitchen! Highly highly recommend!

Works great for pepper. This AdHoc mill works fantastic. It always grinds (my Peugeot grinder was intermittent) and with the handle on top it's super easy to operate. The rotory handle keeps me from getting tired when I have to grind larger quantities of pepper. I haven't used it for salt and can't speak to that.As for color it's a matte mocha. Most of our other kitchen decor is matte black. With this sitting next to the other stuff it's pretty obvious, but sitting by itself it might pass for matte black.

I bought this as a replacement for a cheaper plastic grinder that broke, so my main hope for it is that it lasts. It seems to work fine but my one criticism is that it's very slow -- you have to grind it for longer than I would expect to get enough pepper into the pot.

More control and less work than an ordinary twist Mill.

Loved until it stopped working... for this price, expected to have this grinder for more than two years. The top handle/grinder no longer works, the rest of it works, but the top where you crank to grind no longer works. Fortunately I had two of them, so I popped the salt one onto my pepper one, that I use more often, and opt to have regular table salt until I can find another pepper mill that should last for more than two years.

Very nice machine. I really wanted to love it, but the degrees of grind are only fine. Very fine to super fine. We happen to be med to course grind people. We found a better grind on the oxo good grips (B07GGF69Z8) and it is easy to adjust. I liked the modern style of this one better, but in the end, had to go with function. We returned this one. By the way, the color may be Mocha, but when I opened it, it looked black to me. I researched it a bit and decided that their "mocha" is actually near black (and the box I received did say Mocha). So, if you think you want black, I think you'll be happy with this. If you want mocha (dark taupe), you might be a bit disappointed.This company has gotten a lot of applause for quality and is a great, newer German company.

I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to give an item 6 stars before. I like well-made tools and that’s what this is, a masterly made tool that just feels good in your hand and works wonderfully. When I bought it I didn’t even realize it has planetary gears - what that means is that it takes two turns of the handle to get one turn of the grinder - this makes it easier, smoother and more accurate measure of the pepper grinds. The fit and finish is amazing. It is worth the money. Don’t hesitate to buy one. You will not regret it.

If you love pepper, and want sensational ease of use, this is the grinder for you.Filling the grinder is a bit tricky: I use two screw drivers to lever the top off as it is a VERY tight friction fit.The top easily pushes back on.Loads of capacity for a couple weeks use.
