Oxbow Timothy Mat

Wow! My rabbits immediately went to this mat and began chewing at it.I was skeptical at first not really knowing the size but this is a great size nice and large. I feel confident and giving the Oxbow mat to our rabbits because of the high quality that Oxbow is known for. When I open the package it was extremely fresh and smelt really good. I will update this review to let you know how long this will actually last for.I've included three pictures to show you our rabbits and then my hand is on one of the rabbits to show you the size. I buy these large size Timothy hay mats regularly as a chew & digging toy for my 9 lb senior bunny to work on when he goes into Destructo Bun Mode. There's a corner of his bedroom that he likes to dig and chew whatever is there, so I moved the mat there. Success! If I move it elsewhere, it gets ignored. He's a bunny with particular tastes, he likes to dig and chew whatever is in that one corner, so I'm happy he can get it out of his system on this easily replaceable hay mat.He doesn't actually eat the entire thing - he basically just tears and pulls it apart so I have to sweep and pick up the pieces, but I'm cool with that. Sometimes a mat will last 2-3 days when he really gets fixated on it, but sometimes it'll last a month when another of his chew toys has captured his attention.He doesn't lay down to relax on these mats ever, it's not his thing. He prefers to relax on the granite tiles I got at the home improvement store - they're nice and cool for him to stretch out on to cool his belly after playing. Your rabbit might like laying on these mats though - bunny personalities are so varied. If your bun ignores this mat, try moving it to another area, sometimes that's all it takes.

Very well made, great quality. Smaller than I expected. I have a holland lop and a Dutch bun, each about 5 pounds. When my buns lay out, they are definitely longer than the mat. But it’s big enough to “loaf” on and they love chewing it so still a great buy. Will be purchasing more in the future, and will hopefully find a longer size. In the photos I placed the mat along side them so you can see the size vs the bun. I bought the sized labeled with random letters and numbers, maybe the n/a size would be larger.

I love Oxbow everything. These mats are made by a company that truly understands how guinea pigs and rabbits think. There is no harmful threading (which they will eat and then you'll have terrible digestive issues that risk the life of your pet) and the mat is 100% hay and very well made. Do not buy any other brand but Oxbow for your piggies or rabbits. Truly, if you stick with Oxbow, you won't have suffering from a broken heart from losing your pet to something stupid like a cheaply made toy.

Love this product!! As a foster guinea Pig home, I have tried many items over the years and this is a keeper! These mats are high quality oxbow Timothy hay and they're much larger than any similar product you can find in pet stores, for a much lower price point. They're soft and smooth but durable unlike other mats that are dry and brittle with splintering potential. My piggies love to lay on these, they also come in handy when strageicly placed to keep them from tunneling under fleece and padding, and make clean up and maintenance a breeze in high traffic areas, as well as by hay troughs and kibble bowls. These mats have literally cut my daily cage cleaning time from an hour+, to 15 minutes!! I will definatly be buying more.

Be aware that your critter may choose to poop and pee on it, which means they'll pee through it!My rabbit companion has no interest in tearing this up or in eating it as others do. For context to compare with yours, Pip has access to my 1000sqft home as well as an 800sqft outside enclosure at all times, and he doesn't chew/destroy much up unless it's either delicious or in his way. He also has zero interest in toys. His big hurdles have been inappropriate urination (partly my fault due to bad choices I made while hand feeding - he lost his mom too young) and urine marking. For us, this mat was a helpful tool for training. Now it is outside next to his loose dirt for rolling in, so he doesn't pee in that.Free tip: an X-pen is super helpful for buns that try to mark specific things, like the couch, as their domain! Mine would still mark my couch - just that - if I didn't block it off when he is unsupervised.

This is probably my 5th purchase of this. There is always one in places my bun (dwarf Lionhead) likes to hangout. If he's not chewing it, he's napping on it.Since my bun is a dwarf, it does take him a while to devour a whole mat, so he's only devoured 2 mats in the past 2 years. And this is actually incredible because he is VERY picky with food, toys and pretty much anything else. I've purchased him other Timothy hay toys and huts, but he never seem to care for those.I'll definitely never stop buying this!

This is a big mat! My bunny loves it. What I like about it is that it doesn't make a HUGE mess when she eats or picks at it. The may is big so it has lasted us for a few months so far. The fact that it doesn't make a mess allows us to just lay it out for her in the living room and she just eats it on occasion. When she finishes this one, I'll definitely buy another.

My rabbit loves this mat. He doesn't really use it to sit on, but LOVES to tear it apart! It's a really great boredom breaker; a fantastic way to encourage hay eating. It's especially good if you have a pet who likes to eat their toys (which can be annoying as a lot of rabbit toys are made from cardboard and paper, which should not be eaten). It get's four stars instead of five because it is quite expensive for something that doesn't really last very long.

Girlfriends rabbit loves this, but for a large mat it seems quite small, will probably be devoured fairly quickly. Maisy tends to settle on it and gradually chew it down. Still it's exactly what was wanted and it was delivered a fair bit earlier than was suggested as the delivery date.

Nous avons 2 lapins. Il aiment gratté et mange leur tapis. Je trouve a bien parce qu'ils passe du temps pendant la journee ca leur fait un passe temps (activité) de plus. Bon, oui ça fait du foin partout dans leur cage, mais bon si vous traité déjà bien vos lapins, ben ça vous fait juste un peu plus de foin à ramasser.

Purtroppo, qualche giorno dopo che il mio coniglio ha assaggiato il prodotto, ha iniziato a sentirsi male con la pancia. Non credo sia stato un caso, ma non voglio criticare nemmeno l'Oxbow, che è una azienda seria. Ma, purtroppo, non posso dargli cinque stelle :)

Great quality mat. Unfortunately our Flemish gain has shown little interest in it unlike another mat we had previously bought and he pretty much ate. Perhaps the novelty has worn off. Good mat though!

Bunny did not like it in his cage. I’m sure it’s a well liked product overall but didn’t work for me.

Got these on sale for Christmas for a great price for our 2 rabbits. Peanut loves to sit on his, while Smokey has demolished his already. Big hit! Will definitely purchase again.

Could be my rabbit he does not chew that much at least not yet.Good product well made I use as a food tray for rabbit.
