Antonio Hermosa AHQ-10 Classical Guitar, Solid Cedar Top ¾ Size

Ver good value. Sound is okay. One string buzz...But still a very good buy

I love it. Sounds good. Easy to handle. Not really a lesser guitar as denoted by term student guitar. It is just smaller and very well made. I like the fact that it is easier to play for smaller hands like mine, but this is still an "adult" guitar even if it fits the needs of younger players as well. If you want a smaller guitar that is easy to play while sitting on the couch or just noodling around, this is the one to get. You'll like the quality of workmanship and the sound. Not quite as melodious as more expensive guitars but good.

I'd been looking for another 580mm scale instrument and it came down to this model or the cordoba requinto 580 due to their price range, solid tops, 48mm nut widths, and wood bindings etc. I bought this on sale and for around $100 when I bought it, I would rate this as four stars. At the usual price however I would rate it as three stars due to the setup issues (treble nut slots cut too deep and those strings buzz when playing open strings), the rosette appears to be a sticker rather than an inlay, and the volume is low even compared to other instruments of this size. If I did it over I would probably wait for a sale on the cordoba and take a chance on that instead. At this scale I also prefer the Oscar Schmidt OH30SCE due to it's appearance, playability and 52mm nut. However, that instrument must be amplified to get a good sound, the AHQ sounds better unamplified.

This guitar may be a bit small, but the sound that comes out of it sounds heavenly.Just give it time to adapt to the humidity in your house, but once you break this guitar in....you wont want to put it back down. The cedar top vibrates freely so the sound is sustained and clear. The tuners are great but you are going to want to replace the strings. IMPORTANT NOTE - This guitar is not only for little people...i am a big guy, but the size of it makes the guitar what it is, a great sounding guitar that wont shrink the size of your wallet. Antonio Hermosa is a brand that is reliable and gives you what you want, not like other brands where you just pay for the brand name.
