writing is smooth and clear. profound read even in 2024. like time is standing still. used to be taught to middle/jr. high schoolers. is probably banned now. but who actually reads today. if you do, buy this book.

i checked THE SOUL BROTHERS AND SISTER LOU by KRISTIN HUNTER out of the library when i was in the fourth grade, in the early seventies. i read thousands of books, but this was the one i never forgot. i received my own library copy of that book today, and i am in heaven!! i can't believe the luck! it is in terrific condition. i'm so excited to read again and to share. thank you so very much!

This was a birthday present for my teen brother, and if you know teens they hate reading, but to my surprise he loved the book and wished they had a movie for it!I like that the shipment was right on time for his birthday.

I read this book waaaay back in elementary school, and was so excited to see it on Amazon I just wanted it in my collection. I re-read it and it still had that wonderful feel from way back when. It also applies to a lot of what is going on today in the Black Communities around the world. A great book, good read and just so sorry I just found it. I never forgot this book it was my first read on my own. RIP to the author Mrs. Hunter, I wish I could have written her a letter to tell her the impact this book had on my life. It made me socially aware, and proud to be Black.

Kristin was such a creative minded person. In reading the book, I felt like I was right there. I am much older, and was able to relate to many things in the book. I would encourage all young Blacks to read the book and reap the realities of being Black. After reading this book, I purchased all books by this author. She really knows how to put reality on paper.

I read this book as a child. I once had an original hardback copy. I leant it to someone and they destroyed it. When I found it on Amazon, I was happy. I ordered it and gave it to my oldest granddaughter for a gift. She, like I, fell in love with the book. Thank you.

This was the book I read in middle school that got me hooked on reading. I am now 56 years old and this is still my favorite book.
