Good value
The lock was returned several times due to cosmetic damage but the final replacment is very good.

hefty entry door knob, easily replaced 30+ year old, failed knob while letting me reuse my old key
The headline says it all, perfect for what I needed. It's much heavier than the original Kwikset it replaced, which I guess was a lighter duty/lower grade entry knob set.

Very sturdy and easy to install
Bought this as a replacement for a 27 year old Kwikset lock. The holes and milling were already done as this was a replacement. The instructions were clear, concise and very easy to follow. What I really liked is the spring in the handle; not as flimsy as the old locks. The only improvement needed is to have more of a concave key surface to guide the key when in the dark. Installation took about 5 minutes. I used a Phillips #1 and a Phillips #2. Those were the only tools required.

QC lacking on finish, otherwise OK.
When I opened the box and inspected the contents I noticed that the exterior handle had a wide scratch mark on it. Also noted that the keys were laying loose in the box. Since this went on a garage side door, I’m not too concerned about the finish. However, if the other three I ordered have this same problem, I will be forced to return them.Overall I would say that the lock appears to be well built and sturdy. I was disappointed to read “made in Mexico” on the box, and instructions could be a little clearer, but otherwise no complaints so far. Installation took longer than expected due to somewhat vague instructions , but got it figured out. Classic case of different brand of lock originally installed, so different hole dimensions. Will try to update upon receipt of the rest of my order.

Best for a wood door.
It was easy to install with some alterations. It seems to be intended for a wooden door.

Read the fine manual
Great lock. This was a replacement for another lock that had failed and I got kwikset because I could set the lock to match my other kwikset locks.My only comment is to RTFM before swapping this in. There's an adjustment for the distance from the action to the pointer where the handle connects to the rod. In my case, I needed to lengthen that but I didn't figure that out for a while because "it's easy" and I didn't read the directions. Had I read the directions, my 45 minute adventure would have taken 10 minutes.
