Good and simple product - worked first time.
Simple and easy - like it should be. I have two TVs and I am splitting an HD satellite TV feed. I just plugged it in and it worked immediately. I am using it with a pre-made 150ft length of CAT6 cable, which is supposed to be the max length you can use. I ended up not needing all the length (based on finding a shorter path to run it) but at least I know if I move the second TV farther away I will have no issues.UPDATE:Works awesome with CAT5e as well as CAT6. I planned on moving the remote TV into another room for some extra Superbowl viewing so I thought I would test out some older cable. I had an extra bunch of CAT5e lying around so I figured I would try using that rather than pulling the CAT6 I originally ran to another room back out of the wall. It worked great. I just popped some connectors on the end of about a 100 foot length of CAT5e and connected to the extenders. Now, I basically have a big extension cord that I can use to temporarily put a TV just about anywhere I want. Outside, inside - whatever.I would definitely recommend the product. I don't know why others are having issues. Here is my exact setup - maybe I got lucky and purchased the right combination of products or something...there are a lot out there.Extender: Cable Matters HDMI Extender Over Single Cat6 Ethernet Cable up to 150 Feet (Electronics)Cable: CAT5e OR CAT6Splitter: PORTTA 2 Port 1x2 Hdmi Splitter V 1.3b compatible c1.4 3D 1080p swither 5 8 PS3 XBOX360 DVD Blu-ray

Works great...perfect seller.Update- a year later, all the lights are on, doesn't pass video. Using 30' away from source as a test, new cat6 tested and confirmed as good, Video from source works direct to HDMI, through this year old converter, does not work. Only lasted a year. For $120, this should have lasted longer. I think this is garbage and a scam. I do not recommend this for anyone.

Works great while it lasts
Just as the title states, these extenders worked great but only while they last.. Which wasn't a very long time. I used these to connect 2 TVs to a Mac Pro using a 110' Cat6 solid wire cable. For 2 months they worked great but just yesterday, I noticed one of my TVs didn't have any signal. Turns out, the receiving unit no longer received power from the power adapter. To be sure, I tested it out with the working unit. I would recommend getting the Etekcity unit. They have the capability of switching between two inputs for a similar price.** UPDATE: 06/03/2014 **After I left my initial review, Cable Matters got in touch with me and offered to replace my broken extender, free of charge. There was a shipping delay from my end but as soon as CM received the defective item, they had it shipped out quickly with convenient tracking information. I just reinstalled everything and it seems to be working great. Only time will tell if these extenders will last but fortunately their customer service has put me at ease. Also note that my other extender has been working around the clock without any issues. I will continue to update this review periodically or if something happens.Longevity issues aside, Cable Matters prompt and courtesy customer service and the ease of use of these products (when they're properly working) has earned my rating from 2 to 4 stars now. I only hope this new extender will last longer.

work as advertised even with segmented LAN connection
Let me explain my situation, I have 2 TVs, one in the living room on the 1st floor and another TV in my bedroom on the 2nd floor. I have only 1 DVR box from AT&T in the living room. I was hoping to send the output of the DVR box using the in house Cat5e cable already in place when the home was built to reach the 2nd TV in the bedroom. To connect the whole setup, I need to put a patch cord to connect the jacks leading to the 2 rooms inside the centralized patch panel inside the master suite closet. The total physical distance is about 50-60ft I got pretty good signal (I even tried putting the TV in another room which would result in a longer run for about 80-100ft) initially I'm afraid extending it via a patch panel (passive) instead of the cable itself being a continuous strand of copper would degrade the quality but it's not the case.If you do a search of HDMI extender over ethernet you will see multiple product from different brand but looking 99% the same. I bet it's just a generic model being rebranded. Both transmitter and receiver side has a red light when connected to an HDMI device (even if that device is powered off). The red light will also turn off itself if there's no activity (seems like on power save mode or smth). It will turn on automatically once you turn on the device on either side. So I think it works out pretty nice.

Great converter box for my CAT 5 cables
These have worked fantastically. I set them up in my home theater. The theater cables were installed pre-HDMI era so we only had component cables and needed an upgrade without dismantling the walls and ceiling. Luckily there was an ethernet cable installed (CAT-5).I was able to attach the heads and crimp the cables (super easy if you need to do it yourself). I bought these guys since a majority of the converters I have seen needed at least 2 ethernet cables. And I couldn't be happier with my purchase. A single CAT-5 cable is able to deliver full 1080p without any issues. It's been working for about 4 months so far and we haven't had an issue yet.The cable runs appropriately 25 feet, so I am not sure how it works for distances that are long.Overall it is a great converter box, simple to setup and use right away. Would recommend.

It works!
I got this HDMI Extender Over Ethernet to make a run from my Dish Hopper upstairs to a 42" HD Plasma downstairs. I currently have the Hopper hooked up to a 4 way powered splitter. 2 TV's are hooked up via HDMI cables, and the third TV is hooked up through this HDMI Extender Over Ethernet.I ran a direct Cat5e line and terminated the cable. This distance is about 60'. This product works flawlessly. There is no noticeable delay, no noticeable single degradation at 1080p and no other problems. Setup was simple. Supply both units with power and an hdmi cable and run an Ethernet cable between them. Plug them in and your done.I'm very impressed with this product.

Didn't know it existed until I needed it.
I wanted to run an HDMI cable down a wall cavity but the gap was simple too thin to get the cable head through. I was going to give up then decided to look for a wireless sender (which I hate) but whilst searching found that these gadgets exist.SUCCESS! The data cable with the connect cut off attached to a home made cable feeding tool (coat hanger) went straight down my wall cavity. I did need to buy an RJ45 crimping tool to attach a new connector on to it but all in all, it was cheaper than a wireless sender which aren't that great.Full HD signal transmitted perfectly from sky hd box in the loft to the tv, this particular unit uses only one data cable whereas some require 2. The only downside is that the unit require power at both ends, but a small price to pay for a genius solution.

Works with Sky+HD
I am using two sets of these to distribute my Sky+HD box to TVs in additional rooms. Both are working well with the 1080i signal and have no visible drop-outs.My cables are <45m long and actually Cat5e via patch bays and wall sockets, so not ideal for HDMI extenders which generally can only achieve their rated distances with point-to-point wiring using Cat6 solid core cable.Compared with other HDMI over Cat5/6 extenders I have tried these are rather slow to connect audio. So oddly the picture connects much quicker than the sound by a few seconds. After this initial connection delay there are no audio problems. The use of two power supplies, one for the sender and one for the receiver, is mildly inconvenient. I would prefer the single PSU at the receive end used by some competitive products. However, the low price of these units makes them very good value and I am happy with them.UPDATE July 2014. The Transmitter box failed and as the product is now discontinued, Amazon offered a full refund. Full marks for customer service. Less marks for reliability but maybe this is to be expected with lowest cost electronics.

It did what I was expecting to have
I was looking for a product to extend my CCTV display as I was moving the recording unit away from the screen.I searched Amazon and chose this unit. It did exactly what I was looking. Installation took 5 min and was straight forward.I recommend this product for those who want extended HDMI without the need of an extended IR control.
