Burris Kicks Ass
Replaced 2 piece Burris base with 1 piece Burris base. I looked through other makers for a steel base since I don't want flex under recoil, to loosen screws. The EGW, Warne, Leupold & Weaver are all Aluminum, others that are steel are out of my price range for reasonably priced. I choose the Burris one piece base, because everything they make kicks ass.

Missing parts
The first one O got of these was missing all mounting hardware. The replacement had 4x8-40 screws and 3x6-48 screws. It take 4 screws to mount this. I needed the 6-48 screws. I was going to return it again but found Leopold screws fit, just the heads were a little smaller. Burris could use some better quality control. Otherwise it is a good mount.

Did not fit as described. Listed as compatible with Savage 110 Precision, Long Action, but was not.

The notch makes all the difference
I would never go back to a rail design that relied solely on the mounting screws for stability. The notch that rests against the front edge of the ejection port greatly adds stability.

Even the replacement sent to me was missing the hardware
UPDATE: after receiving the replacement base from Amazon, it was was also missing the full sets of screws. The problem is that these aren’t normal #6-48 screws, they are should have extra wide heads similar to the optional #8-40 screws to securely hold the base in place. The counterbore holes in the base are larger than the common Remington 700 base and require these larger diameter head #6-40 screws. the story isn’t over yet though, after receiving the replacement from Amazon, I decided to contact Burris and see if they will send me a set of these particular #6 screws. They were gracious enough to quickly send out a set of screws….the wrong set of screws. They sent a set of classic #6-40 you’d find on most factory Remington 700 scope bases, but as I mentioned earlier this is not a normal base. It’s made in china with uncommonly large counterbore holes. So I’m willing to bet if you order this base, you’ll have to go shopping for proper fasteners even after you spent $60 on a steel base. Hard passOriginal post: really wanted to like this Burris xtreme tactical base, but after the first order was sent out missing all the #6 and #8 screws, the replacement had only the short #6 screws. If this was a cheap aluminum base I wouldn’t care, but it’s a $60 steel base that uses longer than usual #6 sized screws to mount to my action. So again, I’ll be returning this item and trying a different brand base that also utilizes a recoil lug built into it. Burris cheap packaging or sloppy handling has probably cost them a bunch of business with these xtreme bases.

WOW this thing is heavy duty
Yea, they went all out on the design of this thing. They even put a recoil lug on it lol. When you tighten this down you can see how close the recoil lug fits up against the front action ring. I am super impressed with the cockiness of this thing. Solid steel. My new favorite scope base.

Great product if it were for my rifle
I ordered this for a Howa long action 0 moa. Twice this package came in one outer label for 700/Howa long action, 0 moa, and the Burris package labelled for Savage long action, 25 moa. Confirmed both times this did not fit my rifle, first time it came without mounting screws. Disappointed does quick get it.
