I consider these cubes a masterpiece of art and has deep philosophical meaning to me. The cube set is the centerpiece of my living room displayed on my coffee table and the stands are very stable. When I gaze my eyes on both cubes and bear them in my hands simultaneously, I am instantly reminded of Heidegger's passage in "The origin of the work of art" where he contrasts earth and world:“World and earth are essentially different from one another and yet are never separated. The world grounds itself on the earth, and earth juts through world. Yet the relation between world and earth does not wither away into the empty unity of opposites unconcerned with one another. The world, in resting upon the earth, strives to surmount it. As self-opening it cannot endure anything closed. The earth, however, as sheltering and concealing, tends always to draw the world into itself and keep it there.”Heidegger studied Gestalt theory, simultaneous contrast, and Goethe's color theory. Karlfried Graf von Dürkheim tried to connect Gestalt theory with simultaneous contrast. Josef Albers attended von Dürkheim's lectures at the Bauhaus in Dessau. Albers became one of the first artists to apply gestalt theory and simultaneous contrast to art, with Paul Klee and Vasily Kandinsky following in his footsteps.Goethe's color theory states that we cannot separate the scene from the seer. A picture comes into being in the encounter of light and darkness. It is the Urphänomen, the primordial phenomenon.

I thought the 2" tungsten cube was cool enough, but I saw the 2.5" weight was significantly more than the 2" so I ordered the Tungsten + Aluminum set and I am literally speechless from the huge difference between the 2. I showed it to a few colleagues then my arm go so sore so I had to put it down and rest, it's that heavy. Midwest Tungsten Services are by far the best and are the de facto experts when it comes to tungsten. Heck they even own the tungsten.com domain! how cool is that!

Maybe skip the extra $ for the aluminum, the Tungsten of course is the star of the show, and does not disappoint. I keep it by my desk and do mini-workouts throughout the day, it will pay itself off in fitness alone!
