The Con Is On (Les As De L'Arnaque)

This is an international production and cast and there are no very-likeable characters in it (they are all scoundrels, think Get Shorty or The Lucky Slevin) so it doesn't quite fit into an American mold of a comedy.Make sure you have the uninterrupted time to watch it (one reviewer didn't like it but admitted they didn't give it their attention while watching it because of phone calls and other interruptions then didn't appreciate it, I wonder if they would like someone to give them a similar review about something they did).Reviewers mentioned the casting was good and that they were expecting a good movie from it. They of course said that the international cast didn't deliver what they wanted. Apparently they wanted stand-up from comedic actors. They wanted a faster moving laugh-out-loud story instead of a complex intrigue and backstabbing me-first survival of crooks story and they probably wanted a happy ending to it. The point of view characters are a poker-addicted grifter and an alcoholic enabler, no one is a truly honorable or good character (a priest is moving opium and a nun is buying drugs, the ex-wife's movie director husband is having sex with at least two other women besides his wife he has paid off with the $5 million dollar ring for a past infidelity, while the ex-wife is a gold-digger that is susceptible to being conned) in it so you can't have the happy ending as that would reward their bad behavior that makes this movie the comedy it is.True, I got this movie at quite a discount (basically the price of a rental) and it not only met the expectation from the preview I had seen of it on a couple of other movies but made me happy to have purchased it so I can watch it again whenever I choose to, which will be occasional, not everyday, but it will be watched again for the intelligent humor in it. I kind of want to see their misadventures of how they steal the necklace off of the woman on the plane they are on at the end of the movie because you know they haven't learned their lesson and that they still need some money to live on (after all, neither of them is going to earn a honest dollar).

not the best movie but was kind of entertaining. Got it on sale so, for the price of a rental not bad, but I wouldn't pay full price to own it. Prolly won't watch again

It was good with some of my favorite actors but it wasn't great.

Really, really bad...I want my $$ back. With the caliber of actors involved? I expected a sleek comedy...What I got was a cliche soaking. I would NOT recommend you waste your good hour and a half on this...

I was fascinated by the reviews and it was included with my subscription so ...ProsLots of heavy hitting talentpretty locations?background music was okayConsscripteditingaccents charactersI ended up watching to the end out of fascination. It was not a thriller. It was not a romance. It was not a comedy. It was not a mystery. It was a jumble of psychosis. I can only imagine what was spent on cast . . . then they may have been pennywise-pound-foolish on editing. There were no moments of excitement or joy or humor or ... well, anything that might be cause for watching a movie.I watched this with a literary eye in mind. You know, not needing to be entertained, looking at ideas of how ppl handle ppl, etc. Still, this was terrible.

Either the talented cast didn't read the script before signing on, or just did it for the money.Desperately bad (would have given it zero stars).

The item was a good price, properly packaged, exactly as advertised, and I received it before it was due. Also I really enjoyed the movie. This was a fabulous transaction.
