I really, really love this series, and this was another great addition to it. Great characters, fun plot, fun adventure... overall, a great read!

Why am I writing this book review now, when I've only read ONE chapter, you ask...Fair question.I was beyond excited to find out a forth and fifth book have been added to this series. Truly, it was a "SQUEE!!!" out loud moment for me and all my friends. OK, yes I am 49 years old and my friends are my age, but they were just as excited as me. I swear, honest!Now, why only one chapter...Because, if you have not read books 1, 2, and 3 yet, then seriously, you need to asap. I re-read this entire series usually about once a year. I do not do this with any other books. I love The Ascendance Series, THAT much. I see new tidbits of glorious nuances, EVERY time I read them. It's beyond fun.So, now that book 4 is out... What to do, what to do...?Do I burn myself out physically and emotionally and read this book as furiously and frantically as I am feeling inclined to, or do I savor it, one chapter at a time. Maybe, I'll have a bad day tomorrow, and I might need 2 chapters to cheer me up. Who knows? But, this way I have options.... Also, the release date of book 5 has not been disclosed yet. Do I have to wait another year or more to see where this all ends? Do I have that kind of long suffering and patience in me. Maybe. I don't know. I'm going to have to find out the hard way I guess, usually like Jaron learns things. Squawk!So yes, Chapter 1 is off to a rip-roaring start. I am already in love with it. I am already feeling all the feels and can't wait to see how long and how fast this roller coaster of book reading with go.Wish me luck!!!

I started this series 5 years ago, in middle school. All the library had was The False Prince (book 1). It wasn't until 10th grade that I was able to finish reading the original trilogy. Imagine how surprised I was when I went to purchase the kindle series to reread and there was a 4th book!!! Externally, I remain soundless. But inside I'm screaming, I promise. I love Jaron/Sage so much, and his snark brings me joy like nothing else. Jaron and Darius are such 3D characters with their contrasting strengths and flaws, and the story just drives me wild.I was a bit confused for portions of this story. It just seemed kind of thrown around. That might be because I read the whole thing between 1 and 4 AM, so my brain is muddled. I'll have to read it again tomorrow and find out. I was even more excited when I reached the end of the volume and discovered book 5, in the works!! Apparently Nielsen has returned to the series, and soon we shall discover the secrets of the Devil's Scope! I'm glad to learn more about the world surrounding Carthya, and to spend more time with Jaron, Imogen, Mott, Roden, Tobias, and Fink. Roden makes me angry. But that just goes to show how great Nielsen's writing is, because I'm feeling things about the characters, right? I should sleep. This book is awesome. Just like my spectacular sleepiness when I get up tomorrow...I regret nothing.

I have been waiting for forever to get another book in this series. I love Jaron's personality with all my heart. His sence for adventure just leaps off the page. This series has literally been a part of my life since the day I discovered it I regually read once every year to every other year (which I do with no other book). I just can't get enough of it. Ever since I heard there would be a fourth and fifth book I have been waiting in agony for the release. It picks up right where it left off which is really good because I would not be able to handle having Jaron as a older man. Many of the major characters are included and we get to learn more about Mott's past. FInk is also written in which made my heart melt he is absolutely adorable and super sweet I was so excited that he finally gets a larger role in the adventure. Loved the ending can not wait until the fifth book comes out.

I love this false prince series. Have all the books but stopped at this one. I just got bored. I felt like everything's happening too fast, and its sort of the same plot as when he was captured by the pirates. I love that she brought darius back but I just kind of got tired. I honestly wish she had ended at the first and had jaron and imogen married (they did but for some reason they aren't in this book) and be done. Adding a fourth book in this series is not a bad idea. Bringing darius back was a major plot twist but didn't hit me as hard as I thought it would. Anticipating the new book of this series. Still like this one but could have used just a little more work.

To be honest I was kind of nervous about this book because the third insallment in the trilogy ended so well and because of the plot line which occurrs also in the first book (finding a lost prince). Thankfully, I was wrong in my concernsI I absolutely LOVED this book!! There were no timeline discrepancies and on second thought I really enjoyed the plot line!Like the author's other books, it has a lot of adventure, plot twists, and some romance (but very age appropriate). There is no sex or swearing. The main themes of love and sacrifice are prevalent in the storyline.Even if you hadn't read the first three books in the series I think you could jump into this one.Do yourself a favor and get this book today.

Have read all excepto the final book in series. Planning to purchase and passed on to my grande children. Maybe buying them the series for birthday or next holiday.

I had loved the first three books in the series, I'm glad the author kept it going! Highly recommend 👌🏻!

My son loves this series. It's great that he really wants to read without me having me chase him or otherwise coerce him.

Amazing, great for any age, and can’t wait for the fifth book! Totally recommend 100%However, my copy came with some sections that had chunks of ripped pages.
