After going through a few other cheap adapters to get my speedlites on a light stand, I finally broke down and bought the Frio's. I was hesitant to buy them until they were given great reviews by several people at a Syl Arena photography lighting class I attended, and I got to play with them first hand. I was surprised at how well they're actually built. High quality plastic, with a METAL insert for screwing onto a light stand. No more stripped out threads on those cheap plastic Speedlite stands! I'm using two them on a dual flash adapter (a long piece of aluminum with a thumb screw on each end for the Frio's, and a threaded hole in the middle for attaching to a light stand.) Long story short, these simply just make life easier if you're plopping multiple speedlites on light stands. They're strong, set up fast, and your expensive Speedlite is securely locked in until you're ready to remove it. If I had it to do over again, I'd stop messing with all of those cheap Speedlite adapters and just get these from the start. You'll end up saving money bc you'll probably eventually end up with these anyways. Yep, they're that good.

I bought these last year hoping to charge more batteries at once. They only seemed to work the first couple times I used them, now they just won't seem to charge, I leave them charging overnight and in the morning the charging bars haven't made any progress at all, they just keep blinking and do nothing. Super disappointed. Wish they had some kind of warranty and I could get my money back, now they will just take up room in a landfill. Don't buy these.

I would recommend these to anyone looking to make life a little easier. Slide your flash into place, use the locking mechanism on the flash to eliminate 'wiggle', and you are good-to-go! It is just as easy to remove with little pressure.Note: As stated in the specs, the v2 comes with two threads - another reason it is "universal" I guess - but be careful when using the insert. You can easily loose the insert when removing the v2 from a stand. You also will most likely not be able to use the flash manufacturer's supplied weather seal when mounting a flash, like the Canon 600-EX-RT.

Not universal at all...I have Yongnuo flashes.Does not fit...

I preach these wherever I go. In fact, I don't remember the last time I used a regular mount. If i had to, I think I'd cringe. These are just so much value for the cost, and they hold up well over time. They function properly and fit nicely on all of my speed lights and video lights. I think I even had a partial crack in one and used it for three years with no problems. Ditch your old cold shoes and buy this Frio clip. I've been a happy customer for years.

I wanted to like these and I thought they'd be the solution I was looking for. Within one week two broke and my flashes fell off from them. The plastic needs to be much tougher for this to be the solution.

These things are great! I hated putting my speedlights on the cold shoes from the usual umbrella swivel. I've had more than damaged because it slipped off or got knocked off at an event. The Frio cold shoe secures the shoe and holds it very firmly in place. Everything is tight and secure, and I have yet to have a speedlight damaged since. I'd like to also note that the design has changed a little bit since the first ones that I bought. The new design is much more rugged and the tabs are less inclined to break. I heartily recommend these to anyone using off camera speedlights.

Love these shoes - hate the price. Why are these so expensive? I don't know, but since they're the best I guess you'll just have to pay the price. Really these are the best design. That extra piece of plastic with the clip is the lifeline for your gear - believe me. These are great for all types of coldshoe gear: recorders, LED lights, flashes, microphones, etc.. This New Version is pretty handy at it now mounts to 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 studs compared to some of the older versions I own that only mount to 1/4 - 20 thread. Technically, if you did happen to forget to tighten your mount to the Frio coldshoe in most cases the "SlipNClick" will at least prevent your gear from falling out with tragic results. These truly are "best coldshoe ever".
