Guarantees no damage to mixer by not actually transferring power from the motor worm gear.
Standard gear, fits properly, teeth mesh, all that good stuff. Unfortunately, the plastic gear is not bonded to the metal insert, so once your mixer is back together you can start it up, grab the head with your bare hand, and stop it. Stop it right there. The motor and its worm gear and this gear will happily continue to spin around that metal insert. This ensures you will never again strip out that plastic gear by dropping something in the bowl of your mixer. It also means you will never again mix up cookie dough, bread dough, or pretty much anything the thicker side of egg whites. If you use your Kitchen Aid to make dough, stay away from this. You can get the real part for under $10 from a local distributor, do the job once, and mix cement if you so fancy. So yeah, it fits just fine and arrived in perfect shape and has all that going for it. But it won't, you know, transfer power. As an industrial engineering major in college I heard somewhere that transferring power was the whole purpose of gears. Apparently that is no longer.

This part and a YouTube video saves $300
My Kitchenaid is pushing 20 years old. When it stopped working I figured it was time to for a new one. I decided to do a quick search on YouTube for repairs and found a video with my problem. It said I just needed this one part that was less than $10. I figured it was worth a try. We followed the instructions and with 30 minutes and this part it works perfectly again.

Works Well After Involved Installation
Had to completely disassemble Kitchen Aide Mixer to replace the gear, but it works great.

Does not include required roll pin
My repair issue was the roll pin not the gear. I wrongly guessed that this would include a new roll pin.

Cheap $10 repair for kitchenaid mixer
A friend gave us their kitchen aid mixer that wasn't working anymore. Motor was kicking in but wasn't getting to the attachments to spin them. Google search revealed it was a worn out worm gear. $10 and 20 mins of work and it was fixed! Now working great!

Messy job but what a difference!
My bucking bronco mixer is transformed! It was a messy job so use lots of newspaper to lay out the parts but well worth the effort. The mixer now hums and purrs like a kitty and only cost a tiny fraction of a new mixer.

Replaced part in KitchenAid mixer
Wow. My KitchenAid mixer couldn't get beyond the first speed without grinding to a halt. I looked up common reasons for KitchenAid failure and this gear is usually the culprit. There's a helpful tutorial online to show you how to take it apart. It looks difficult but it's pretty straight forward. This little cheap gear will save you hundreds on a new one or getting your mixer sent to a repair store. Just roll your sleaves up, prepare to get a little messy and dig in!
