Beside Still Waters: Coloring the Psalms (Majestic Expressions) Paperback – Coloring Book, October 1, 2015

The media could not be loaded.  This is a book of 45 beautiful and inspirational hand-drawn illustrations. Most of the designs have intricate elements to them. The artist is Ember Canada, who was on active duty with the United States Army prior to being medically retired in 2014. Her drawings show her deep passion for the glory of God's creation.Just looking through the designs is uplifting, so I know that coloring them will really take me to a place of spiritual relaxation and an appreciation for the promises of the Psalms. The verses used in this book are taken from “The Passion Translation” of the Bible. I'm not familiar with that translation but the words are beautifully expressed and the drawings give a visual enhancement to the words.There are 45 designs and, for fun, there are a number of hidden symbols within the drawings. While there is a listing of the items, to find the answers as to where they are, you will either find them in the drawings or visit the publishers website.The designs are printed on white paper that is a nice quality but thin. The designs are printed on only one side (with the back left blank.) The paper is acid-free and is not perforated but the publisher states that the pages are easy tear-outs. I assume that is from the glue binding but have not removed one as yet.All of my markers and some of my gel pens leak through the page. Not a problem, as I can put a heavyweight paper behind the page I am working on to keep the ink from messing up the rest of the book.I am really happy to see inspiration Biblical adult coloring books being made. I plan to spend many hours with this book and hope to see more in the future.

Disappointed for 2 reasons-- for one the printing of the scripture verse on most pages is too small and too light to be easily read by anyone looking at the picture. The second is that some of these are so finely detailed I'm not sure how they will look colored. A friend thought that at least some of them had originally been larger posters that had actually been shrunk to fit 8 1/2 x 11 pages. I don't like super-artistic drawings where I'm not sure where one line begins and another ends, and there is quite a bit of that in this book, too. I had wanted some pictures I could color and frame, and this doesn't seem as though it will work well for that. Oh well.

Not really a good value. I bought the book for one friend in mind but after seeing the content of coloring book I felt the coloring book should be given to a 'very' devoted Christian. The coloring book is thin, scripture is good but I was dissappointed in the lack of opportunity to color.

I love this book! I received my first adult coloring book as a birthday gift. After discovering how therapeutic coloring is, I decided to shop Amazon for some books that connected to the Bible. This book has a mix of simple and challenging prints. After trying two types of coloring pencils that were disappointing, I bit the bullet and purchased a set of the Prismacolor premier pencils. The colors are vibrant and helps make my creations simply beautiful. Amazon has the best price on the pencils.

This is nice for someone who likes a lot of detail work. Not recommended for those with Alzheimer's to color as the lines are very thing and pictures have a lot of detail. This was nice for our art class and those who did not have Alzheimer's.

I found the intricacy of the designs to be difficult to color in with gel pens. Seems to call to colored pencil artists.

Designs are lovely and calming, with a large amount of variety in the styling. While the paper is a bit thinner than I'd like (as I use clear ink pigment blenders with watercolor pencils), the designs do not bleed under marker. Wonderful to relax to and have some quiet time with worship music in the background.

I haven't done anything with it yet, maybe I'll love it once I do.

I like the designs and I like the way the book is put together.I will be taking the book apart to use at a prayer event so that people can choose a design to work on.I am sure I will be buying more books like this.

Gift for young teenager. She finds it relaxing and fulfilling. The psalms are a bonus.
