Recommend for anyone looking for improvement!
I bough this book after Redding positive reviews and I come to find it as a helpful guide to see what I have been doing wind and seeing what I can do to make my writing better! The summary on the back is very accurate! No sugar coat, and just getting straight to the point! She tells you what to do to improve, gives examples with quotes and scenario, and moves on to the next thing. It's very easy to understand and very relatable if you have already had practice with writing at all. I urge anyone who isn't fully professional at writing to buy this if you wish to improve. It was a very easy and small read too! Easier than you'd imagine. I read the whole thing in one sitting. It didn't even make it to my bookshelf until I finished the book. I'd give this book a 6/5 if I could because thanks to Karleene Marrow, I can stifle and feel way more comfortable with my writing.

Don’t waste your money.
This was not very good. The writing is scattered and the advice is common sense and notvery inspired. The book is also filled with typos. I was very disappointed in that. But I didn’t expect much for only six bucks. LOL...😊

I liked it and keep it on the desk for referral ...
Very interesting down to earth presentation on the fundamental steps that a writer has to take to produce a manuscript that may be acceptable for publication. I liked it and keep it on the desk for referral from time to time.

A great book on writing fiction!
This book does exactly its title suggests. Karleene Morrow does not spoon feed a recipe for a beginner's novel. She guides readers on the nuts and bolts of writing fiction. I've learned a lot about fiction writing in general and highly recommend this book for newcomers to writing books.

Very helpful
I just finished reading Fiction Writing and found it to be very helpful. It was straight forward and full of practical helps. I have implemented much of what I learned, and am still learning, in my latest writing and have been told my writing has improved. This book would be very helpful to any writer, especially one just getting started.

If Only This Had Been Around 20 Years Ago
Karleene Morrow is the author of `Destinies', the epic saga of German immigrants who settled in Catherine The Great's Russia. A book which in my humble opinion was one of the standout novels of 2012. Here Karleene shares with us the skills and disciplines that were employed in crafting that wonderful book.`How To Write Your First Novel' contains everything an aspiring author needs to know before setting out to pen their literary epic. From POV changes to writer's block; each point is laid out clearly and succinctly, so that the book is not only an invaluable guide, but would also be a useful aide memoir. As a writer, I have learnt through trial and error a good deal of what is contained here. Some, I have to say I am still learning. I can't help thinking how much simpler my writing life would have been if this guide had been around twenty years ago.So whether you are planning to write the 21st century version of War And Peace, or simply a short story to send to your local magazine, you would be well advised, first of all, to invest in a copy of Karleene Morrow's excellent book `How To Write Your First Novel.'

Simplistic and not very helpful at all
I felt compelled to write a review of this book as I think that the other reviews paint a very positive picture of the content and material in this book. Firstly, the font is very large and given that this is a very small book, it seemed like Morrow struggled to include enough material to make it worthwhile. Also, there are a great number of typos in this book which is just shoddy. One, two maybe but definitely not more than five in a book of this size. The content is incredibly simplistic - there are no exercises or tips really, it is just a regurgitation of what most people know without offering anything new. I'm a little baffled as to how this has got positive reviews. If you're looking to write, I'd recommend Harry Bingham's 'How to Write' which is much more insightful and practical for the aspiring writer.
