Exactly what I needed!
This is amazing, I'm a pretty puny woman and had no trouble at all to screw this thing into the sand, held my umbrella very well. The pole of my beach umbrella is pretty thin ( as standard beach umbrellas are), this anchor can fit thicker ones (not sure how thick since i didn't take measurement).Side note; tried it on a light breeze day so I'm not sure how well it will hold on more windy days but it seems strong enough to me.

Sand umbrella anchor
I bought this to take on our beach vacation. It worked well. Our umbrella stayed up. Had to try several spots in the sand to get it work, but once we got it in the ground good, it held the umbrella up.

Not really necessary once you know how.
I'll start by saying the construction of this anchor is well made. But, I screwed this thing deep in the sand and and found prolonged gusts of wind eventually wiggled the 'brella loose and pulled it out; sending me chasing after it. In time, after observing the beach services guy install the rental umbrellas and a watching a handful of YouTube videos I figured out the trick to do this without the anchor. In following days on the sand, using the technique learned, the 'brella stayed all day through all the winds. I recommend if you are considering this anchor that you do a similar search on YT and determine if those techniques will work for you.

This is a great anchor. It is easy to put in the sand and easily handled 35 mph Hawaiian trade winds at the beach. Only 4 stars because there was no carry bag included as described. The anchor is pretty big and would be easier to carry to the beach with a bag.Update: March 2016Umbrella anchor is cracked on the side. Emails to the company for a replacement have gone unanswered. No other contact information. No carry bag included. Won't buy again. Amazon is refunding my money, and I will purchase from a different company.

Does not penetrate in the sand, I still have to use small shovel to di in, but once you do that, it stands against the wind.

Good sturdy anchor
I have a couple of this style anchor. I also have an anchor with the spring-like screw. A moderate breeze pulled this out of loose sand and had me chasing after the umbrella! With this plastic anchor with blade screw, I shovel out a small hole, fill with water, and screw this new anchor into firm sand after filling in the hole. Seems to anchor an 8 ft. umbrella well. You still have to lean the anchor in the direction of the breeze.

Good, solid anchor
I've used other types of sand anchors, and this was probably the sturdiest I've used. I love that the handle is thick and built into the shaft. It did a great job of holding my wooden beach umbrella pole upright in the sand, standing up to sometimes strong winds.
