This Advent Calendar could be for any month of the year...
My son is only 10 months, but I've been using him as an excuse for the past 10 months to buy build-a-bears, a train set, and, most recently, an advent calendar.I had read reviews on the past year's Lego calendars and the lack of actual Christmas-themed pieces was a little concerning, but I decided to give it a shot anyways.Overall, the quality of the pieces is what I've come to expect from Lego (which is good) and some of the designs are very intricate and were actually a lot of fun to put together. On the other hand, I have to admit that I didn't even know what half of the finished pieces were supposed to be (it might not help that I grew up in rural areas and now live in the Poconos) and the only Christmas-themed item was the small Xmas tree that appeared on the 24th (we had to open up the last 4 days early 'cause we were going out of town.)So, while this might be a fun item for those kids (or adults) who are putting together a Lego City, for those of us just looking for a fun Christmas advent calendar- well, it was a little disappointing. On a side note- I received doubles of a lot of pieces. At first, I thought it was intentional, 'cause it seemed like it was only for the small pieces. But, then I noticed that other ensembles didn't include extra small pieces. So, who knows. =)

Great fun for at least a month
I usually forget to buy these things until mid-December and either they are sold out or my kids have to "catch up" on the days all at once! Finally this year I remembered and cant wait to give this to them. (I got one for each of 2 children...no fighting!) Note to self: Don't forget to pull these out of the closet on Dec. 1!They are bombarded daily with toys and such on television during the month of December, so it is nice to let them have at least a little something early. The waiting makes them nutty! The toys are pretty simple, but it is way more daily fun than getting crappy chocolate (remember "Bad Santa" movie ha ha!) or just moving a little object to a new place on a traditional advent calendar. Soon they will be too old to appreciate any little thing like this.Plus the toys are little so if we get unexpected company, I can gather them all up quickly to make people belive we live in a neat house! Don't forget to get one early this year!!!

LEGO FANS...Unite!
...but seriously, if your child loves Legos, this is an awesome advent!! My youngest child is in to Littlest Pet Shop, so I bought her that advent calendar and my oldest (6 1/2) this one. BIG DIFFERENCE-lol! The Littlest Pet Shop will not be purchased again-it was really bad : ( But this set has been an awesome treat for both kids. Everyday they rush to wake up and brush their teeth (with out being told!) so that they can find out what new Lego's they get to play with that day. Next year I'm buying early so I can get in on the Lego Princess version for my youngest-I feel so bad for her sucky Littlest Pet Shop Advent-such a let down. I'm glad that they are both enjoying this one : ) Little do they know, Santa's bringing MORE LEGOS on Christmas-hehehe!

A nice calendar
This calendar was given to our 3, almost 4 year old. It is a fun calendar with a lot of fun lego surprises in it. I think my son was a little too young for it because the pieces are so small it was hard for him to put together. He normally plays with the Lego Duplo pieces that are a bit bigger. A fun calendar if your kid likes Lego, but I would say for 5 and older.

Not so much an Advent Calendar
Normally I rate Lego products at 5 Stars, but this set was not up to Lego's standard. Yes, the mini-kits are well made and durable, but how many roadside construction things and figures does one need in an advent calendar? Our son became fairly bored after day 10 (and he loves Lego City).Maybe as a suggestion Lego could at least put some Winter themed items in the next advent calendar.

Enjoyable surprise for 24 Days!
My nine-year old had lots of fun discovering a toy every day for 24 days. As other reviewers have mentioned, it would be better if more of the items were holiday-related, but my child can always find use for any type of Legos so overall this was a good item. The items are "City" type Legos. Some parts are very small so I would not recommend this for very young children.

fun for everyone
It was awesome. My son,8, looked forward to opening a door each day. I thought the amount of Legos and specialized pieces made it a fair price. I will warn, however, that Amazon did not send this out in time for the first day of Advent. It came on Dec 7th for us, about two weeks after I ordered it. I really thought it would have come sooner than that. So preplan!

Thumbs down for Lego Advent Calendar
This was not what my Grandson expected. It was not much of a challenge and too expensive for what it was. We were very disappointed.. I have been buying Legos for years and this just wasn't too good.
