I don't quite know how to describe the fabric. For being a face/neck warmer, the fabric was thinner than I expected. However, for how thin the fabric seemed, it was warmer than I expected, so I guess it averaged out to about what I was hoping for. I would not use it as my only head covering, especially on a breezy day, as the wind seems to go through it, but for layering, it works well, and the ability of air to easily go through the fabric is a plus when you have it covering your face/mouth, as it lets you breathe without much restriction.Can be worn as a full face shield, with just your eyes showing, you can pull it down under your nose with the hood up, just covering your mouth, you can have the hood up with the face part under your chin (it bunches up just a little, but not too bad), or you can have it just around your neck. It is very versatile for cold weather layering, especially if you are going to be outside a while, and are not sure what the weather will be like in an hour or two.Workmanship is decent

First off, I have to tell you I ended up getting this ski mask free. There was a shipping error, it ended up coming week later, so there is no charge. That being said, my two problems with it are:1. As others have stated, there is a weird kind of gasoline/oil smell to it. I've washed it twice and it still noticeable.2. It's not long enough. I will admit I have an enormous head, but this thing only goes about halfway down my neck. I have to wear a "gator" (neck sleeve) and this to get the coverage I was hoping for.Other than those two issues, I like it. It could've been perfect if they could've just gotten that horrible smell out of it, and made it longer in the neck area. But, again I did get it free.

I use this product often when it gets cold. The only issue I have ever had with it is that i get very warm

I'm 6" tall, and wear a 7 & 3/8 hat size, but this "one size fits all" balaclava is too small: maybe more accurate would be, "one size fits all CHILDREN", since it's hard to imagine this fitting an adult.The problem is it's short in the back of the neck, leaving an area of skin exposed whenever you tilt your chin down or turn your head.Upside is, it's snugger than the other face warmer I've been wearing these days, and is better at keeping cold air away from the face (although my other balaclava also has a drawstring and cord lock and is adjustable: it's just I look like Kenny from South Park when wearing it).Fortunately one of my jackets has a longer-than-normal collar, so that'll be my solution for now.I suppose that kind of thing comes with the territory when buying clothing sight-unseen... This one may be returned....I uploaded a picture of this one next to my longer balaclava: the newer one measures 13" from the top to the bottom in the front (and it's only 12.5" long in the back), whereas my older balaclava is over 8" longer in length ( i.e. 21").Odd choice to manufacture it so small: could fabric be THAT expensive in China?Certainly the shipping costs to return it will be prohibitively expensive: maybe that's why they get away with it, since they know few would bother?

It’s easy to get on, unlike a similar product I have, but the picture is misleading. It does not go down over the neck; it just reaches a little below the chin so you need something else to block the wind on the neck.

Ordered it for the blizzard we had this past year. The snow was blowing hard, this kept the bite off my face. Did great job,
