It was time for a change
This appears to be just what I need after taking my Ford Excursion to a local shop for an oil change. This truck has just turned 70,000 miles, not to bad for a 2002 7.3lL diesel. In the past I have changed the oil my self after taking it ti the dealer and watched them put in the wrong oil. Now I thought it was time for a break, a 74 year person deserves a break. I do not know how the person that changed the oil could have destroyed the drain plug that was in the truck. Found oil on the garage floor after the change and from the drain plug. I now have changed the plug with this plug that I hope will do the job. One disturbing point, the wrench to tighten the plug is 13MM, now that's not right.I will be doing all future oil changes.

Great little plug
Put this on my 06 Ford F-250 Diesel. 17 mm plug coming out . 13 mm going back in. No magnet on new plug which would be nice. Torqued to 27 ft lbs as specified. So far , so good. Why no magnet ?

Some time ago during 1 of my oil changes the mechanic lost the washer ring on the drain plug when it dropped into his oil drain pan. Of course every oil change there after the leak is noticed AFTER they replace the 10 quarts of oil my truck needs. So i finally, AFTER a fresh oil change, I decide to do something about this. I was looking for a replacement plug that will do the trick. I found this one with no washer ring that can be lost and had the extra rubber seal on it. I replaced my old plug, spilling little oil in drain pan and just by hand tightening alone the leak stopped. I wrenched it down and no leak..... so far not a drop.

Worked!
01 7.3 just turned 130k and after my last oil change she started leaving little puddles. This drain bolt stopped my leak. Wish I would have bought this before the fresh oil change, don’t try replacing this drain bolt in a quick matter with the oil still in lol
