A Solid Resource
After having read a few other books on Baptist covenant theology, I turned to Mr. Nichols book for a more in-depth treatment. That is precisely what I received. It is a solid resource for understand Baptist covenant theology. I really appreciated the first section of the book which covered different perspectives/definitions from some representative covenant theologians/ schools of thought. This section served to frame the way he answers certain questions later in the book. Overall, it is a great resource and I heartily recommend it.

Valuable Information for the Reformed Baptist
Greg Nichols' Covenant Theology is a must read for every reformed Baptist. The book starts out slowly at first, but it picks up in Chapter 6 'Summary of the Classic Reformed Doctrine'. Mr. Nichols shows that the Covenant of Grace is the same for the OT & NT; every elect individual is saved by heart circumcision that creates faith and repentance through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit. However, there are conditional, temporal promises to the nation of Israel in the OT that do not transfer to the NT. This book requires deep thought, but it is definitely worth the time to read and study.

If you are Calvinists at heart
This is a excellent read for those in the Baptist fold who are moving back to Calvinistic roots and there are a growing number who are. The book is well organized and extensive.

An opinion on A Reformed and Baptistic Perspective on God's Covenants
I and two friends read this work together, outloud, so we would get the benefit of both sight and sound. It was an eye opening experience for all of us. One of us was raised in a Dutch Reformed church but knew little about the covenants. Two of us were raised in the Baptist tradition and knew even less. Thank you Mr Nichols for taking the time to expose us to background and teachings of Scripture. We all were blessed and count it among our most treasured moments on the journey.

Disappointed
From the reviews I thought this would be a ground breaking new work on Covenant Theology. Its not. One humorous thing I noted from the book, however, is that Dispensationalists are not the only ones in love with their precious charts. This book is filled with them. I will, however, give the book credit in one area. Unlike the usual works on Covenant Theology, it did not flatten the Bible with its pre-conceived schemata. It carefully looked at different covenants to consider what was unique or different about them. Some Covenantalists get so caught up in the "unity of the covenant" idea that they cannot see that the Noahic Covenant, and the Abrahamic Covenant, or the Davidic Covenant, or the Mosaic Covenant, or the New Covenant are not the same thing. This book does give adequate presentation of these materials and that is progress for Covenant Theology in general.

Recomend it
Not too far into it, but it is what I expected and is answering many questions, and provoking others, but that is good
