Sunchang Gochujang and Doenjang Combo 500g

Since ordering this I have tried another brand and find this one good but not the one I prefer. Don't get me wrong, these two will add that umami flavor to practically anything.The gochuchang is spicy but not as spicy as a habanero. I would say it is similar to a hot hatch chili. The spicy burn is nothing unbearable, only lasts a couple of minutes. If you use this in some dish, your tongue will be normal by the end of dinner and it won't interfere with dessert.The consistency of this brand of gochujang is similar to Japanese miso paste. It is on the thick side so this may be the reason why I ran out so quickly. This one is also on the salty side with a slight sweetness. I have found the Sempio brand to be sweeter.The Doenjang is similar to Japanese Miso Paste but has more flavor and depth to it. If you can't find miso, use this as a substitute. If you have any issues with MSG, this one has it as an ingredient. I am not quite sure if the gochujang does since ingredients get lost in translation but I assume it does.I use either one of these for practically any dish. I make dressing out of them. I use them as pizza sauce. I even make a dip for chips. I also add the gochujang to guacamole. There isn't anything you can't add these two pastes to. I wouldn't be surprised if someone made dark chocolate and gochujang cookies! Hey, it is about the same as chipotle and dark chocolate, right?I am not disappointed with the flavors of this brand but it is saltier than Sempio.

It is fine other than I specifically asked if the doenjang had msg (it traditionally does not). I was told it does not have it. It does have msg. The gochujang is fine, no msg. Fyi this is a staple in my kitchen. I use them both constantly.

Both arrived nicely packaged and on time, no damage. I used the fermented bean paste as soon as it arrived and it was great

I love these two products. They have a rich deep flavor that can be added to many dished. The containers are easy to open and fit nicely in the fridge. The only complaint I have is that the Doenjang container was cracked when I got it so there was a little mess to clean up. Otherwise I would have given it a full five star. It's super tasty and I highly recommend it!

Same stuff as I used to buy while living & working in Korea. Now that I've moved to west Texas, being able to buy this and have it delivered in 2 days is simply amazing!

I'm crazy about the Gochujang. Among other things, you can tell it's activating the newly discovered Umami taste buds. Less nuts about the other, which is more subtle but I might well change my mind if and when I find the right recipe

Yum! I learned about Korean food watching a Korean cooking show, it's delicious food, and gochujang and doenjang are essential ingredients. I bought this brand in the recommendation of my Korean friend, and it's definitely better than the other brand I tried.
