Great value
The tables are the tables. But at less than 20% of what I have to pay in a marine book shop I can't question it. Well produced, and what I want.

Exactly as advertised
This edition of the Sight Reduction Tables was exactly as advertised, and what we wanted. Shipping took a few weeks (to Canada) and the packaging was entirely recyclable (well-done!)

If you are a novice to celestial navigation
I did not read the description well enough. As a beginner who is just shooting the sun, moon, Polaris these tables are of no use to me. Not into stars (other than the sun) yet. Since it was under $20 bucks I won't bother to return it and who knows someday I may be able to use it.

Air Navigation Tables
Reference book that does the job required. Use for sight reductions of Sextant observations of celestial bodies. Dated material good through 2019.

NOT Sight Reduction Tables for General Use. Special case tables only and they go out of date.
These are not sight reduction tables for general use. They are special use only and they are the only tables that go out of date. They are quite useful for certain applications (see the other 3 star review and my appended comment.) Don't buy this volume of this publication if what you are hoping for is a set of sight reduction tables you can use in marine navigation and keep for a lifetime. If you are learning c-nav from one of the many great books that use H.O. 249 as their basis and want to follow their lead you need H.O. 249 Volumes 2 and 3 of this publication. You do NOT need Volume 1. Furthermore H.O. 249 Vol's 2 and 3 are better if acquired in the government spiral bound versions. The paperback (commercial) versions won't lie open to the selected page and surely will not last as long. I have heard anecdotally that large office stores will re-bind the paperback versions to spiral bound quite inexpensively, but I do not know how this works. Obviously you must first remove the paperback binding somehow.Peter
