22 Designs Vice Telemark Binding

Excellent basic telemark ski binding
This is the second pair of these bindings which I own. The binding is rugged and dependable. They work flawlessly. According to the manufacturer, this binding is intended for use in lift-served skiing environments. In other words it is not intended for ski touring. However, If you can accept the limitations, it can tour fairly well in limited situations. It accepts the traditional 75mm "duckbill" boot sole. It adjusts for the length of the boot easily and provides solid control over the skis. IMHO, this binding is very good for perfecting your telemark or free-heel skiing techniques. Also good for the skier who does not require extensive touring ability and who enjoys free-heel skiing at ski resorts. A great binding. It is one of the last of the 75mm tele bindings still available on the market and one of the best. I use mine at my local ski area for both telemark and parallel skiing. They provide a lot of enjoyment and a nice alternative to my alpine (fixed heel) skis - which I also enjoy greatly. Keep in mind, the "free heels" and flexible cables provide a margin of safety if you fall. There is no release option available. If you are careful (speed under control, terrain within your abilities, etc.), you should be able to enjoy them without concern.

Bad ass telewhacking bindings that are made to charge the lifts and backcountry
Love these bindings. Super sturdy, easy to adjust, hardly ever pop off if adjusted properly, a breeze to put on (unlike so many others), and they keep your boot pretty well aligned laterally, with not much squirrly side to side action like on the old 3 pins... yeah I used to ski on leather lace ups, 3 pins, and 218 skinny skis. Look how far we’ve come! Some say these aren’t made for touring, but I have done plenty of backcountry touring and charging... they’re comfy as all get out!

Great tele binding!
Great tele binding. Well thought out & well designed. Next to the NTN, about as powerful as you can get.

Excellent!
For many years I thought my 22 Designs Hammerheads were the best Telemark binding ever made. That's because they were so far superior to the Targa G3's and other bindings I previously owned. I thought the new 22 Designs Vice binding would be at most a minor upgrade from the Hammerheads. Boy was I wrong! These bindings blow my old Hammerheads away. The precision and control I get from these are like no other binding I have used. These are now my new favorite telemark binding by far. I just wish I had tried them sooner, I would have happily spent the money and upgraded years ago! Also, I strongly recommend you follow 22 Designs recommended "tele mount" position (4cm toward the back of the ski). Most ski shops I have dealt with opt for a standard mount, which just isn't ideal for telemark skiing.
