I am a mental health therapist
and this book is such a creative way to teach mindfulness to children. These are great skills to help a child with anxiety, fear, trauma, and form of distress or just to increase their resiliency. I highly recommend this book for children.

Works
This book is helpful with the pandemic. My daughter developed a some anxiety around sleeping and It gave us a way to settle her at night and fall asleep. The exercises are a bit repetitive though, especially how they end. I wish there was more variety. We’ve been using it for a couple of months and my daughter was excited to do meditations but now she a little bored with them. She does have a couple of favourites that she says she’s doing by herself now without reading. She’s 7, so I’m happy it taught her an positive coping strategy to use when she needs it,

Really handy resource for parents
I love this book! I also like Bedtime Meditations for Kids, and this reminds me of that except that they aren't specifically geared towards the bedtime routine and helping kids let go and be sleepy. You could do these at any time of the day. The directions are simple and the activities are actually fun (there are lots of books that say "50 Fun Activities" that are NOT full of 50 fun activities). My son is 5 so he's the perfect age for this book! Each activity gives a list of supplies (simple things like your imagination, a mirror, a pillow or soft place to sit, paper and pencil). There are 10 games each in 5 categories. The first is games that focus on your Magic Breath. The second is games that help you get in tune with your senses (favorites here are "Octopus Feelers" and "Smells for the Security Guard"). The third is games where you pay attention to your thoughts (I love "I Can Be a Positivity Magnet"). The fourth is games whre you pay attention to your emotions... and the fifth is a bit of an all-purpose category. There is enough variety that when you feel like your child needs a mindfulness activity to do, you can flip through and likely find something you haven't done before. This is helpful, because novelty appeal to kids... but these are all simply different ways to access the same skill set of staying present and understanding your thoughts and feelings better.I received a free advance copy of this book from the publisher and am giving an honest and non-compulsory review.

Great for times of stress
Mindful Games For Kids: 50 Fun Activities to Stay Present, Improve Concentration, and Understand Emotions teaches kids skills for listening to their bodies, feeling 'in control,' and being present.Through fifty illustrated exercises, kids learn breathing techniques, visualization, and meditation. Best of all, each of these excercises is made into a game to keep them kid-friendly, fun, and engaging. Kids learn to practice deep breathing by having a small toy (or stone) 'surf' on their bellies.Other games involve active movement, like Feelings Hide-and-Seek and Outside Adventure. Most games are quiet and reflective, but some require a few items from around the house. Overall, this book will provide hours of activities for kids and families, especially useful during times of stress. Features: 50 games, activities involving multiple senses, and activities to complete alone or with other people. Recommended for ages 4-8.The publisher provided a copy of Mindful Games for Kids, but I was not required to write a review. These are my honest opinions.
