TAJ Premium Indian Chana Dal, Split Desi Chickpeas (4-Pounds)

I love Hummus, in restaurants, AND I also love to try to make a restaurant-quality Hummus myself. I've tried so many different recipes at home over the years. All had involved working from canned chickpeas/garbanzos (OK but with a "tinny" or mealy taste), or, dried chick peas (takes lots of time to boil, especially if the peas are old, once cooked you have to hand-peel the translucent outer skin from each individual pea because if you don't the finished Hummus will be really grainy)... I've never been really happy with my results. BUT -- using Chana Dal -- basically Indian dried garbanzo beans, but not canned, already split, no skins -- it's amazing! This particular product arrived & it was very clean, fresh, nice -- I cooked per instructions then used it in my Hummus recipe and I was super happy. This is the dried bean you need to have for your Hummus & I won't do Hummus the 'old way' again!

What can I say about chana dal except that its low glycemic goodness always makes you feel GREAT after consuming it! Just 25 minutes in the pressure cooker with spices, chopped green peppers and chopped spuds- produces heaven in a bowl with a square of butter, a dollop of sour cream or kefir and cilantro. Never tire of it. This bag is a good price. Buy it and cook healthfully and deliciously!

On time delivery and good quality

I cook a lot of Indian-style foods, but don’t have an Indian grocery store near me. I order these regularly as a pantry staple. Great flavor, and they cook very quickly compared to dry beans.

Walmart wanted to charged more for this same product. I live three hours from the nearest Indian market. So this was convenient.

Has a very bright yellow color and the chickpeas are in a nice shape, there’s a bunch in the box I guess I’ll have them for a year or something!! Really worth the price
