Toxic

One of Britney's greatest hits ever!
Taken from her fourth studio album, "In The Zone", Toxic would go on to become one of Britney's signature songs. This is the song that basically revived her career in the United States, and was also a hit internationally too. An interesting fact is that this song originally wasn't going to be a single at all, but Britney insisted that they release it, and they did. The impact was huge. The song climbed to the top of the charts, reaching number one in countless countries, and the top ten in many others.Produced by Bloodshy & Avant, Toxic is a fast paced dance song about being addicted to a guy who has done her wrong. At the time, the lyrics were extremely racy, especially for Britney Spears. The video was even racier, with scenes of Britney dancing naked, with diamonds glued on her body. Controversy followed. Britney was everywhere again. On this single we have four different versions of Toxic.1. Toxic (Album Version) 5/5 - This is the original version. By now you know, and you should love it. Mainly synths and bollywood strings, this song will have you dancing in no time.2. Toxic (Lenny Bertoldo Mixshow Edit) 4/5 - Still using synths, this remix is sped up and makes you want to dance.3. Toxic (Armand Van Helden Remix Edit) 4/5 - One of the best Toxic remixes out there. Using a really cool kick clap (and of course synths), this is yet again another remix that will have you dancing.4. Toxic (Felix Da Housecat's Club Mix) 3.5/5 - This remix oozes sexuality. Using stuttering effects, it makes the song have a really cool feeling, along with the beat. Unfortunately this remix is low on vocals. She only sings a few lines from the song.5. Toxic (Instrumental) 5/5 - As soon as you hear this, you will appreciate Toxic a lot more. This shows the extra synths that you couldn't hear with Britney singing, and it's really cool.As I've said, Toxic would go on to be one of Britney's biggest hits. In 2005 it would win her a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. It is glued in the annals of Pop Music History. This is the first Britney song I ever heard, and it's the song that made me fall in love with her. I recommend buying this single for any Britney fan. It has a lot of remixes that are exclusive to this single.Overall rating: 4/5

Fabulous song, but just an ok CD single
When I first heard this song I hated it! I was very annoyed by the high pitched, whining violins or whatever made those screeches. Well NOW I can't stop listening to the thing...I'm almost at an obsessive level...hehe. 5/5 stars!!This CD single is just OK, 3/5 stars. Song 2 was listed as Single Version, but it's actually the Album Instrumental. Song 3, the Bloodyshy & Avant's Remix is HOT! It adds additional bass work and some serious guitar licks; 5/5 for this remix!! Song 4, the Armand Van Helden Remix was kind of nothing. The remix didn't add any value to the song, in fact detracted from the song. This remix didn't have the magic of the orignal. 2/5 for this remix.Throw all this together and 4/5 stars. I noticed they are releasing more CD singles of Toxic on 3/1/04 and 3/8/04. Hmmm...they know a hit when they see it! More mixes!! Yay!!

Britney's Greatest Moment To Date
A few days ago Britney Spears once again shocked the world when her raunchy Onyx Hotel Tour concert was broadcast on Showtime. Angry parents across the country jammed phonelines to complain as Britney writhed around in just a pink bra, knickers and suspenders. It was splashed across the front of most of the British tabloids yesterday, and I took a copy to school today - the lads swooned, the girls spat venom and my English teacher held it up in front of his class and asked, "Is this vulgar girl supposed to appeal to teenage girls?" Needless to say, an argument ensued to which many people agreed with me over him! Britney is growing up, she's not a little girl anymore. She's expressing herself, it's been done before so why the big fuss over Britney? Christina, Pink, Janet and Madonna have done it all, but no one quite gets as much criticism as Britney. It's easy to see why: she sells newspapers and, quite frankly, they'd be nowhere without her. This is just another headline that has 'shocked' the world recently from Britney, along with her Las Vegas wedding at the start of the year. However, the biggest shock concerning Britney, especially amongst haters and non-fans, must have come with the release of "Toxic" upon the world. The second single from her multi-platinum fourth No.1 album "In The Zone," this song is literally the song of 2004. Fresh, funky, catchy and infectious - Toxic is everything a brilliant and outstanding pop song should be. People couldn't quite believe what they were hearing when Toxic dominated the airwaves a month ago or so. The song went straight to No.1 in England, Australia, Ireland, South Africa and many other countries. The song also peaked inside the US Billboard Top 10 at No.9. Toxic is Britney's biggest hit for four years and one of the most played radio songs of the past few years...and what were people saying last year? Britney's over. Shyeah right...Toxic opens with a fantastic, loud and instant beat that stops and starts before the now-classic four-note string section introduces itself. This occurs four times before Britney starts singing the first verse, "Baby can't you see? I'm calling. A guy like you should wear a warning. It's dangerous, I'm falling. There's no escape, I can't wait. I need a hit, baby give me it. You're dangerous, I'm loving it!" The strings then carry on, before Britney's high-pitched and breathy vocal section which is damn catchy, "Too high, can't come down. It's in my head spinning round and round. Do you feel me now?" The strings then go at it again, before a subdued buzz makes way for the chorus, "With a taste of your lips I'm on a ride. You're toxic, I'm slipping under. With a taste of poison paradise, I'm addicted to you, don't you know that you're toxic? And I love what you do, don't you know that you're toxic?" Britney then starts singing the second verse in perfect synchronicity with the rest of the beat and bass. She sings, "It's getting late to give you up. I took a sip from the devil's cup. Slowly, it's taking over me."Britney then sings the high-pitched breathy section once more before the second chorus. After its finished, the beat drops and Britney starts screaming "Aaaah!" in this amazing voice that works well for her range as the electric beats slide all over the beat creating one hell of a climax. Britney then sings the chorus twice more, before she sings, "Intoxicate me now, with your loving now, I think I'm ready now!" The strings then go again and the song just ends abruptly. The video to Toxic is, by far, Britney's greatest work of music video art to date. There must've been no limit to the expenditure on this video, as it looks like it cost just a bit over $1 million! It starts off with Britney on a plane as an air hostess playing the very stereotypical role. She then smooches a big fat man in the toilets before ripping his mask off to reveal a hunky younger model, from whom she steals a bomb. We then see Britney in Paris, with red hair, before mounting a motorbike with movie superstar stud Tyrese as he drives her to Toxic Industries. Once there she blows up the building with the bomb, enters and steals a poison, but uh-oh! She gets caught by the security lasers, and what's her way to get out of there? By dancing and back-flipping her ass off in time to the beat through those pesky lasers, before soaring to her cheating ex-lover and killing him with the poison! And so ends a classic music video! This CD single features three remixes. The first is "Toxic - Lenny Bertoldo Mix Show Edit," which is incredibly hyper and catchy. A superb remix and the best on offer here. The other two are "Toxic - Armand Van Helden Remix Edit" and "Toxic - Felix Da Housecat's Club Mix," both of which leave a bit to be desired. However, they're still worthwhile for Britney's hardcore fans. All in all, this is by far the best Britney song we've ever heard from her. It's so unique, fresh and funky that people will be grooving to it for years!

Felix Da Housecat's Club Mix
I like remixes but I couldn't find that many I liked from Britney Spears until one day I decided to try it out on youtube (this remix the Felix Da Housecat's Club Mix). I couldn't believe what I was missing out on all these years. An awesome remix to an awesome song right under my nose AND on Amazon. I have only listened to it a few times so far because I don't want to kill but it's perfect club music (maybe even for parties). The only complaint I had with my purchase was that I had an extra 30-40 seconds with the song but it was all quiet. No noise or anything. So when I listen to this, I have to skip 30-40 seconds into it just so I could actually listen to it.So aside from the little issue I have with that, this is a decent remix for Britney fans (and any remix fans in general).

Another item purchased used; case and sleeve a bit battered & disc had a few surface scratches. However, it played well.
