I love the subtle glow and it has a slight shimmer, not chunky glitter or super highbeams that some highlighters have. I have light-medium skin tone and this works perfectly for me. I could see this working from fair to medium skin tones but not sure if this would work on darker skin. The compact is super pretty and has a clear mirror inside. This comes in a nice outer product box. It is made in Italy. The ingredients are listed on the back of the box.The palette is thick plastic. It feels durable and well made. It has a clasp closure that is easy to open and close. There is a mirror in the lid that is the full size of the lid.This is made up of 3 of their “best-selling” shades - Candlelight (described as a “soft champagne”), Starlight, (described as a “gilded rose”), and Sunlight (described as “sheer gold”).I’m very fair skinned. This seemed like it would be light enough for me. But I was a little worried about the darker one. Fortunately, the other 2 seemed light enough so made up majority and I figured it would work. The shade does work for my fair skin. You can see the different shades when you use the individual ones. They’re very subtle differences, but different enough. It is kind of similar to the same shade of highlight but in a fair, light, and light to medium or medium tone if that makes sense. You can also mix them together. I just dab my brush between the 2 lighter ones usually, but sometimes I just mix all 3 and that still works for me.With this, you need to understand the type of highlighter it is. I feel like the reviews with lower stars are rating it lower for being something it never claimed to be in the first place. They’re saying it’s not blinding, it’s not bright enough, it’s more sheer, etc.On the product page, right under the price it has some information, including “Finish Type Sheer.” Then the description says, “Universal highlighter in soft, radiant shades that come together to impart a natural-looking, all-over glow.” So it says that it’s sheer, soft, and natural looking. With that I expected a soft, subtle kind of highlight. Not a blinding, bright highlight. As long as you are looking for that, I think you’d be happy with this!It has a smooth feel, not gritty at all. It’s not what I’d call dry, but not what I’d call creamy. But, it is soft and applies smoothly. It isn’t glittery at all. It has a very soft, subtle sheen to it that gives you a subtle, lit from within kind of glow. You’re not going to see a beaming highlight. It’s just going to look like your skin has a natural glow to it like it’s healthy and hydrated. It doesn’t look dry or powdery on the skin. It doesn’t accentuate texture, pores, lines, etc.Overall, I really like it. It’s a nice compact and a beautiful natural, subtle highlight. It isn’t dry but not exactly creamy either. It glides onto the skin nicely, blends out easily. It lasts throughout the day. I do think $38 is pricey, but it’s a lot of product in the pan. It would take me forever to go through that much highlighter! I don’t like rating on price since we all have different views on what’s affordable/expensive. But, for me, there’s other highlighters that work just as well for much less. I think if the price isn’t a factor and you’re looking for a nice NATURAL, SUBTLE highlight that has a SOFT sheen to it, isn’t glittery, doesn’t accentuate texture, and lasts well, I’d recommend this! I give it 4 stars.

The product description online says: "Light diffusing pigments and micro-fine pearls illuminate your skin with soft highlights that can be worn day to night."Please don't buy this thinking it will be a see it from outer space highlighter. Kevyn Aucoin as a brand is really focused on making beautiful, skinlike products and the artist himself did a lot of editorial makeup. This highlighter is really beautiful, but you have to use it expecting that it will be a subtle glow that has people wondering "did they drink a lot of water today?" "did they sleep well?" "wow, they have good skin!". Like the description says, it is a SOFT highlight. I can appreciate all kinds of makeup and I like different looks on myself but I would never ask a product to do what it isn't made to do. I can put this on bare skin and it will look glowy, but I have other highlighters for full face. This palette has a gradient of 3 colors: (L to R) a light highlight, a transition tone that is pinker, and a bronzing highlight for the edges of your face. You can choose to mix it all together and apply or apply one side at a time. It added a very subtle amount of warmth to my face without emphasizing texture. Your opinion on this might vary depending on how much sparkle and shine you like in a highlighter. This definitely has shine but it is a more subdued glow than some I use. There is a subtle gradient, but there are three distinct shades to this. I could swatch the difference but on the skin it's harder to tell. I don't feel it accentuates any skin texture and seems to last all day. The size is decent and will last a long time. The texture is soft and a bit powdery in the pan.I do think it's a bit pricey for what it is, there are a ton of highlighters out there, if I was going to spend this much I'd probably go for the Pat McGrath highlighters. I don't think there's anything spectacular about this, but it is nice. If you are looking for a soft rosy gold that still subtle I think this is a good choice.

Maybe this product was expired or very dried out? This pressed hilighter powder cracked and broke WITHOUT being dropped or carried in a make up bag. Would not purchase again.
