Q: What size bit seems to work the best when drilling a hole for this product to fit?

First things first.What are you drilling into?Wood plastic,composite plastic,fiberglass?Take the fitting and lay it standing in the upright position onto a ruler and look at the width of the fitting.That will answer your question.Depending on what your drilling threw you may want to go 1/16 or 1/8 smaller so the fitting fits in the hole tight.Spray the fitting will WD40 so it will fit into the hole easier.

Q: Is this used to run cooling lines through transom ?

Yes I drilled the back transom and sealed it in with silicone then ran cooling hose throw with a little grease really looks clean hope this helps fun stuff
