Nice ukulele but disappointing non-filled/pocked surface finish
This ukulele arrived today. I was excited since I ordered it knowing that Kanile'a, the parent company of Islander, makes beautiful instruments. Upon a close inspection I was somewhat disappointed in the surface finish of the instrument. It would appear that they did not use a filler on the wood before the final sealant application such that you see pocked areas especially on the curved sections of the body and a few on the flat areas as well. Its still a nice instrument and I got it for a good price so it got 3 stars, but the poor finish knocked off 2 stars. I am a little surprised that the Kanile'a inspectors even allowed this one to ship out to its distributor! At least I did not pay full list price for it, or it would already be repacked and on its way back to the Amazon.com seller!
