Design Recipes for FPGAs: Using Verilog and VHDL

Beware The Syntax Errors
This book does provide a lot of very useful tips and explanations for VHDL programming. However, the code is littered with syntax errors all over the place. You’ll definitely get into trouble if you simply copy the design patterns straight from the book.I heard a rumor the author deliberatly did this to help readers learn the syntax of VHDL, but I’m trying to use the book as a quick look-up reference guid, so I’m not really happy about any syntax errors that might throw off my workflow.

Code littered with errors
Using this book as a reference is near impossible. There are so many obvious code errors in the examples. As someone trying to learn these languages, I'm sure there are many more errors that I can identify. There is no online errata or working code examples that I have been able to find. So disappointing.

Full of practical examples to get started quickly
Great book for getting started with FPGA. Highly recommend as a standalone book or as a complement to a course.

There are bugs in the code every now and then
It is good as an additional material to other books, but don't use it as your primary source of any knowledge.Always be careful with copying any code segments from this book - many of them have different bugs. Be vigilant and test-bench it all to make sure it does what it supposed to.

ESTAFA
