Thrice Great Hermetica and the Janus Age: Hermetic Cosmology, Finance, Politics and Culture in the Middle Ages through the Late Renaissance
K**M
If Dan Brown needs a new book to read, this could be the one.
In our media-obsessed world, it makes sense to calibrate the significance of non-fiction against entertainment in order to convey a sense of ontological value. If you found yourself devouring Dan Brown's books on the occult and wishing you could know a real life "Professor Lang", then take heart: Professor Lang could have been a student of Dr. Joseph P. Farrell. Or perhaps, let yourself imagine the author and Indiana Jones sipping cognac and regaling each other with esoterica between adventures. His works are exciting because the topics are crucially important to humanity and he does so much with them with his flair for the dramatic and his earnest astonishment with his findings. :-OThrice Great Hermetica and the Janus age continues Dr. Farrell's unorthodox journey through the crater-filled memory palace of the collective humanity. I say unorthodox not to call into question his choices, but rather to prepare the reader to be shocked by what he has found and interpreted for us.In this work, he uncovers and explains the Middle Ages with a meta-analysis of the intrigues of the elite groups that dominated it. He begins with the Templars. And like the great detective he is, soon puzzles over what is later to be confirmed as the cover story for their demise. He connects the strange life of Christopher Columbus and his connection to the Templars, the disappearance of the Templar Navy and their treasure, the slips of the Queen of Spain and Columbus' own son regarding Chris's voyages to the New World BEFORE 1492. He ropes in the NAZIs, the New World, Venice, the Cohen families of the Temple of Jerusalem and the mystery of Solomon's treasure for good measure... He makes an unequivocal case that Shakespeare was the child of Elizabeth I, that young Edward de Vere was steeped in the Hermetica and, that the Merchant of Venice contains the structure of the Jewish Cabala. The implications are breathtaking, but you'll have to draw them yourself. At first glance, and Dr. Farrell needlessly apologizes for this, it can seem that the book "jumps" around between topics, but this is merely a surface vibration. For it seems that Dr. Farrell is asking us to think about the material in the way that a listener experiences the work of C.P.E. Bach. I realize now that Dr. Farrell is using Bach's technique in his books. He quotes his prior material in the way that Bach quotes earlier phrases in a musical piece. If you are unfamiliar with Bach, fear not. There is a chapter in Thrice Great Hermetica that explains how it works. One important example of this in the book is Dr. Farrell's weaving a common surface between the Blue-blood "bloodlines" and something called the "Topological Metaphor of the Medium." In layman's terms, we can hear the mental echo of creation itself, the mechanics of the unfolding reality embedded in the ancient genealogical trees of the families of paleo-antiquity, the surviving elites of the Cosmic War, the ancient bloodlines of the Middle East and their connection to modern-day royal families. These elite silver spooners, with desperate patience, have preserved their integrity across millennia towards some great goal that is never discussed in public. It's the million-year game. This book is a gift to those who earnestly want to make sense of the world; who want to grasp the deep structure of it. If you know, Dan Brown, pick up a copy for him. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Another Work of Art?
I read this book sometime back but failed to review it seems I had mixed feelings about his statements somewhat at different times. Farrell has always documented his works like that of a PhD scholar and his conclusions although speculative rung true on an intuitive level for the most part. All I can express is my limited research on the statements he presents appear valid as well as the Bibliography that rates an A+ from where he extracted his concepts. It is very descriptive language literal paints a picture in ones mind in regards to the Templar's ---that the Templar's were original from the bloodline of (bloodline of the Holy Grail) kings and they found the buried treasure and ancient knowledge (secrets of Hermetica) when they excavated under the Temple of Solomon. One needs to read the book themselves so as to get all the illuminated details he wrote about and decide for themselves.Yes he does connect the dots with regards to the financial and military empire the Templar's had with the Venice and Genoa merchants and their conspiratorial influences at work----it wouldn't be a Farrell masterpiece unless their was some underlining nefarious plot. Excellent research within this domain---at times it appears his dialogue goes off the subject but later its all tied in to form the whole conclusion in very climactic manner that leads the reader with more questions than answers---once again Farrell plans for another book. (lol)In one particular paragraph Farrell cites the three titans of higher mathematics, Descartes, Newton and Leibniz were all writing of their belief that the "ancients" possessed a sophisticated form of mathematics analysis lost to moderns. He goes on to express that without the Templar's modern Europe would not look like it does today with its international financial power and the dealings of Christopher Columbus with merchants of Genoa, and the hidden knowledge, and its massive intelligence operations that the Templar's were known for. Let me not forget the conniving Pope and King of France that sought to eliminate the Templar's ----for they had too much control and money for both the Pope and the King of France. The deVere family itself reinforces the Templar connection since the Earl of Oxford's ancestor, Aubrey de Vere had some sort of connections with them.................Anyway, readers will love the last Chapter 12--"Conclusions To Part Three: Epilogue Is Yet Another Prologue" in Farrell's own words ----"TAKING STOCK IS NEVER EASY, especially of a work which has been part history, part historiography, part deep politics, and the deep magic of social and culture engineering, part mathematics and music, and a part conspiracy theory".You will not find the secret of life hidden within this book but it will be an adventure reading this since Farrell does prove most of what we may have learned in school about history is a fallacy----here you get the documented facts with a lot of speculations that connect the dots to the intuitive intellectual reader. Its a must read for those who are seeking historical facts about Finance, Politics, Culture (The Templar's) in the Middle Ages through the late Renaissance era and a little Hermetic Cosmology thrown in to tease the reader along the way!

Beyond my capacity for understanding
I will say that the majority of this book was way over my head. I found it to be a tedious read, the chronology of events were all over the place realizing of course that sometimes this is necessary to broach another subject. I will say the author has many facts at his command despite quoting and referencing other authors to the point one might wonder if one should not be reading that referenced work instead. The chapter on Bach was over the top, really didn't add to the overall point of the book. The author is a fan of the harpsichord, I personally can't stand them. Further, if the Egyptians were the progenitors of Hermetic philosophy, then they deserved the detailed analysis that Bach got. In all fairness, the book did have bright spots within it's pages, as in the Venetian/Templar connection, the fourth Crusade, although we never really find what the Templar's were looking for or if they found it. Finally the chapter on the Dead Sea Scrolls was interesting but not afforded the detail they deserved. Bach got it all. I think if the author is guilty of anything it's his attempt to cast a wide net, trying to encompass all the minutiae. Like I said, most of this book was over my head so it's probably just me. Despite all this, I've just finished another novel by this author and have ordered a third.

DESERVES 10 ********* AT LEAST!!
Great, well researched and extremely informative, as are ALL Dr. Farrell's books. As someone else said in review, this deserves a wider readership as it contains a huge amount of little known facts that would radically alter many peoples' perceptions as to why the world runs like it does, and what AND who is more than likely behind it.I cannot praise this book enough - I already knew much about what he wrote but have certainly found out a great deal more, all given in easily understandable, erudite fashion. When you read this genre of book, written particularly by Dr. Farrell, you really do begin to understand the basis of life as it is today.EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, DON'T MISS IT!

Terrific. Wildly interesting
Terrific. Wildly interesting. Already ordered FINANCIAL VIPERS OF VENICE, which I believe precedes this book. Wish there were some proofreaders at this publisher, but not inclined to quibble. Just grateful for this magisterial and well-grounded dot-connecting. Fun!
