This trap works great. Caught a brown rat the first night.
I had been battling rats eating my rippening and green tomatoes. Tried netting, etc. Thought it might be a raccoon, but early morning inspections spotted something smaller. Ordered one of the Rockbird mouse traps and caught a brown rat the first night. I did the same modifications to hold the dual handles away from the cage that others mentioned. Put a few pieces of dog food in the "receiving" areas and a chewable dog treat on the "trigger wire". Hope to get the accomplice tonight. Note that the vendor recommends cleaning the cage in between captures. The rat in the photo has a body about 6-7 inches long, so this works well for rodents.Update after 3 weeks. I caught 2 brown rats and 2 juvenile opossums in the first week. There was one more rat that I had spied in my night time inspections, but it was avoiding the trap. The rats are notorious for marking dangers for their "kin". I had washed the trap with hot water (60C soapy water), but didn't catch the little vermin. Finally layered under the trap with freshly cut grass and caught the last one. Recommend that you get some twine to "tether" the retaining wire for the release door. It will make it easier to open the release door AND you won't lose the springy retaining wire when you are releasing your prisoner. I nearly lost mine but was able to find it. The manufacturer might consider this as a future modification. Everything else works GREAT. Very satisfied.

Do not recommend for mice.
I have 3 types of mouse traps.I have the great little plastic house types which are great at catching miceI have a corner repeater trap which has in fact caught multiple mice at once. Then there is this one. The only pro for me is the set up is fairly simple. Everything else is a con for my scenario.I sat this up in the most prominent place I see mice move about and I have not caught one mouse. I use the same bait for all the traps and the mice just do not enter this one. Frankly after setting it up I think it is too big and heavy for mice. This seems better suited for bigger rodents like rats but for mice it is too large. So if you have rats this would probably work well. If you have mice it is a complete waste of money.

They did not get out
I used to use the flat rectangle traps that can catch several and have a clear plastic window. I like them. Then the mice learned to just stroll out after a happy buffet. So I got another, a wire rectangular tube with no easy way to release the mice. Well that was not a problem. First the mice stole entire bottle lids of peanut butter, lid included. Then I figured out how to set those so the trap would catch them, finally, by putting the trigger and the bait right on edges............ and found out that while the closing was loud they could squeeze right out. This trap though, well when I tore through a cabinet and manually caught the mice in an empty yogurt container (yes, multiple times) after they escaped the others, I put them in this product/trap. I am not walking half a mile into the woods at 2am.In this trap they remained until morning when I released them.HOWEVER, not once has a mouse gone in voluntarily. 2. The flap door... the cat almost let the mouse out once. 3. the mesh bottom means poop still gets everywhere. 4. This trap is freaking huge. Way too big for a field mouse. After watching one escape the other trap through the bars (and shoving it into a dirty pot) I also began to suspect they might be able to get through this one between the wall and the release door, so I stuffed it with foil.tldr the mice are already smarter than humans and might really be the species that created Earth and simply remain to monitor us.

Works good, but needed modifications for safety
Works good but needed modifications to the handle to use it safely, and not let a caught Rat/Mouse to get out by carrying it. The issue is the handle as it swings to lie flat on cage, the first rat i caught was rather aggressive and was trying to bite and claw at me when ever i reached to pick up the handle off the cage, i had to use a small stick to lift the handle off the cage to keep from being scratched or possibly bite. The second issue with the handle swinging is when you are carrying it and the rat/mice move to the back of the cage causes the door to open and will let any of the smaller/lighter rats/mice to get out while carrying it. I used a wire coat hanger to make the modifications in the pictures took about 5 minutes and now i can lift the cage by the top handle to set it back in place or to pick it up from where i have to place it. The back handle is for carrying the cage once a rat/mice are inside, by carrying it by the back it keeps the trap door shut no matter how much the rodent move around inside. Other than the these 2 small issue the cage does exactly what it is supposed to and works excellent after the modifications, i have caught way more rodents than i originally thought i had, so it is doing it's job well.

Catches Rats
I had a rat take up residence in my truck engine and wanted to trap him... didn't want to take a chance on poison kicking in and smelling it for the next 3 months. I've had success with similar, smaller traps for mice so ordered one of these. Baited with a hot dog and some peanut butter on saltines and slid it under the truck next to the front wheel. From experience trapping the mice, I also put a small brick on top... you'd be surprised how much they can jump and kick around and if the trap turns upside down, the 1-way door will open.Checked the trap every morning and evening, and on the 3rd day I had him. Shout out to the reviewer who warned about watching for bites through the cage when using the handle and being careful not to let the trap tilt when picking it up... again, the door CAN come open if it gets at the wrong angle. To keep peace in the house, I took him for a ride and freed him far from the house, then hosed the cage down and reset it. Found the next in the truck and no sign of friends. Left the trap out another week and no takers so rat-free for now. Will be setting it out from time to time just in case.Well made, just be careful when handling once you trap one. Very easy to clean, so much nicer than the plastic boxes I used for mice.
