Southern Comfort: A Small Town Cowboy Romance (The Southern Series Book 2)

Disappointed
I would not suggest this book to anyone. Besides the poor grammar and vocabulary the gratuitous sex and F-bombs (along with mf), is unrealistic. The story just does not work. Even though it wraps ups the mystery of why two young women were on the run from LA, the story lacks the decisiveness necessary for a mystery.

Disappointing
I did not like this book at all. I found it to be very repetitive for most of the book. The constant "I'm not good enough" between the two of them was annoying. How many times can I read that both characters don't think they could be in a relationship with the other. I didn't connect with either character and found their nicknames for each other really annoying and cheesy. Then Olivia's whole story line with her ex-fiance was way over the top & also repetitive. Something good happens in her life, boom, someone tries to hurt her. Something good happens, boom, something bad happens. IT was just rinse and repeat for me. The story lacked any depth. I'm hoping Beau's book will be better.

Enjoyable angsty slow burn romance (3.5 stars)
3.5 starsI was expecting a cowboy romance but I got so much more in Southern Comfort. Casey and Olivia’s story is packed with mystery and I wasn’t expecting it. That was definitely my favorite part of this book: the mysterious plot.Olivia is in a lot of trouble and because of that she’s temporarily living in Casey’s house, her best friend’s brother. Casey is trying to protect her from the drama her ex fiancé dragged her into, when suddenly there’s not only drama… Olivia is in real danger.I was impressed by the fast pace and the suspense and that definitely won me over. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the relationship between Casey and Olivia. There was something missing in their relationship. Don’t get me wrong, the steamy scenes were amazing and I was rooting for them. I just felt that with everything going on in the story, we didn’t quite get to see the emotional connection between them.I loved Casey’s family, how Olivia was figuring out Casey’s many layers, the small town setting, their banter and the secondary characters. Southern Comfort is a fast paced, mystery packed with twists and turns, angsty slow burn romance that I enjoyed. I’m curious about what’s going to happen next in Savannah and Beau’s book.

Great Story!
I really liked Casey and Olivia’s story. This is one of my favorite authors. After reading the first book in this new series, Southern Chance, I was disappointed that Olivia’s story was never wrapped up. I really hate having to buy the next book to get the whole story. That being said, I was happy it was pushed into this second book. This book starts off fast and never lets up. It was less angsty, but had much more action and thrills.Olivia is hiding out in the south from her ex boyfriend. Her life in LA is put on hold while he is awaiting trial. But it doesn’t take long for that old life to catch up to her. Someone is looking for something and will go to any means to find it. Fortunately for her, she is staying in probably the safest place on the planet. With her best friends brother. While she physically might be safe, her heart is in serious danger of being broken.Casey is your stereotypical southern cowboy. At least on the surface. No one knows the huge secret he’s keeping. He is very content living and working on his family’s horse ranch. And when his sister shows up bringing along her gorgeous best friend, he is the first to jump in and offer his help. Having Olivia stay with him, takes some of the danger away from his family. Its not long that that danger lands on his doorstep.I really liked both Casey and Olivia. On the surface, opposites in every way, but having more in common than either know. Both are dead set against marriage and kids. Both are very good and loyal friends.Casey was the Alpha protector. A hard working, genuinely good guy.Olivia was a bit of a clueless basket case at times, but when pushed too far she grew a backbone of steel.A fast paced, opposites attract romance. No cheating, no cliffhanger. Dual points of view. Two great epilogues.Beau and Savannah’s story is next, it looks like it’s going to start off with a bang.

Two Stepping to Romance
We have watched Casey and Olivia two-step all around each other in Southern Chance. Now, it's time for their dance. And it was quite the dance too. It seems Casey has been holding out on us on precisely what he does and how he does it. NO SPOILERS! And it appears we don't know all there is to know about Olivia either. NO SPOILERS! And this--right here--is what makes Southern Comfort a great read. Every book Natasha writes, I become a bigger fan.Southern Comfort comes charging out in the first chapter, like a spooked horse, which is fitting since it takes place on a horse farm. And yes, I did go there. But Casey is a hero, and he does hero stuff very well. *cue swoon* Olivia is no shy retiring violet, but she's a bit worn down with all the swirl going on around her. When I think of Olivia, the word "unaffected" comes to mind. Even with all the crap, she can still enjoy her fried chicken. This characteristic is what makes Olivia's character so likable. Heck, you can see why Casey is falling for her. Some of you may be saying, "well, duh, that's what we're supposed to do; it's a romance novel." But I tell you sometimes you just really like the heroine more than other times. Olivia is one of those times. Not once did I want to throw my Kindle across the room because I was frustrated with the characters. Angst kept to a minimum--thank you very much. The romance was both sweet and steamy. Natasha does lovely passionate steam so very well. Ever since I read her Something So series (hockey), I know I can depend on her for both sweetness, steam, and frequently a good dose of sexy humor. Southern Comfort delivers on all of those points.I look forward to the next installment in this series because the story thread began in Southern Chance is coming to its crest, and I'm anxious to see the tidal wave. COWABUNGA!

This book has everything you could ask for and more - A MUST READ FOR 2020
I have had to create a new bookshelve for Southern Comfort 'SWOON WORTHY'! Because it is that and so much more! An understanding story that has everything you could wish for in one book!***** Book You Can't Put Down***** Romance***** Mystery***** Alpha Guy***** Hot Cowboy***** Your New Book BoyfriendThe new Southern Series by Natasha Madison is in some ways completed different from what she has written before and in others ways the same. The same as in the swoon worthiness of Chase - he sends tingles down my spine every time he says "Hey, Darlin" I can hear that southern twang in my mind. The same; as in the beautifully written romance that is Chase and Olivia - their road to happiness isn't an easy one.We meet both Chase and Olivia in the first book in the series - 'Southern Chance'. Kelly the sister of Chase and Olivia's best friend. The only reason that Kelly went home was because Olivia is being chased by some people that her ex was involved in and that is where the story differs from normal because we have mystery element to it - a crime - why is Olivia being pursued, who is trying to kill her and why? all of this within the back drop of the 5* romance. But Olivia although beautiful and an ex model (not something she ever wanted to be and got out as soon as she could) had a terrible childhood - her mother turning her into a meal ticket from 5 - Olivia grow up with no friends, no hugs, no cuddles she was never given the chance to be a child. All she ever wanted was to be loved!Chase has always been a player - but from he moment his sister brought Olivia home there has been a place in his chest that he just has to keep rubbing and his not sure what it means. When Olivia's attacker gets more aggressive Chase knows he will do everything he can to protect Olivia knowing that when the threat is over - Olivias place is in the glitz and glamour of LA not a ranch- but did he ever asked her?!

Wow, just Wow!
In Southern Comfort, the second in Natasha Madison's 'Southern' series we catch up with Casey and Olivia.Although we met them in 'Chance' , it's not necessary to have read the first in the series to fully enjoy the epicness that is 'Comfort'!Casey and Olivia have been thrown together because of nefarious activities undertaken by Olivia's ex-fiancé and Olivia's need to find a 'safe place'.And OMG what a safe place Casey's house and arms turn out to be.Alpha through and through, Casey ensures Olivia's safety at every turn and despite her fear of putting others in danger, she discovers the love a family can offer - not something she has ANY personal experience of.But be aware, Casey is much more than the ex-rodeo star turned ranch owner that he shows the world. He does however show Olivia. That session of 'show and tell' is one that will be imprinted in my memory for years to come - or at least until the next 'Southern' publication!I can't wait for the story of Beau and Savannah but I can't see it replacing Casey in my heart.#southerncomfort #caseyismine #saveahorserideacowboy

You will melt for Cowboy Casey
Famous hockey players, police detectives, stuffy suits, famous actors, and now a cowboy, what do these all have in common, well the phenomenal writing abilities of Natasha Madison of course. Each and every story she writes, has my heart and soul, though there are some I will fall harder for than others, by the end of each story, her words will have made me fall in love with another fictional character.Cowboy Casey Barnes is one of her hottest, most complicated heroes to date, but you just can’t help falling for his tough, but hot as hades exterior, and the heart of gold, cheeky, generous and loving person he is on the inside. If like me, you are an über fan of Ms Madison, you will remember Casey as the older brother of Kallie, along with Olivia, who is Kallie’s best friend that she has brought home to her family farm to keep safe after her ex fiancé got her caught up in his criminal ways.Southern Comfort begins at the exact moment Southern Chance ended, but starts from Olivia’s point of view. The action and mystery hit you from page one, and you are left with questions that keep you guessing until the very end. In this book, Natasha has weaved a story where you can never guess what is going to happen next, there are many elements at play here, which make this one of my absolute favourite NM books of all time.Casey is a mystery, he has secrets he’s hiding, but everything he is is good, he’s a protector, both of his family, and those he loves, which quickly includes Olivia, even if he won’t admit it to himself for a long time. He is the whole package with a brooding, mysterious side as well as a cheeky, fun loving country side to him too and you just can’t help but swoon every time he calls Olivia Darlin’Olivia has lived a hard life, never feeling good enough and never being given the love and attention she deserved, she has taken the scraps thrown her way in the past, but now she’s stronger. After finding her ex in a compromising position, then being caught up in his criminal activities, she vows never to let a man hurt her again. When she meets Casey though, she can’t help but fall. They both believe it’s only temporary, this isn’t Olivia’s home, and as soon as it’s safe to, Olivia plans to return to her life, but feelings change and an attraction that burns as hot as theirs, can’t possibly be short term.I found myself falling hard for both Casey and Olivia. I was so invested in their story, I felt a part of it, turning each and every page entirely too quickly, to see how their love story would play out. As with all Natasha Madison books, she gave Casey and Olivia a happily ever after, far beyond my expectations, and a love story I can only wish for.A million save a horse, ride a cowboy stars.

Great series easy to read
This is the second book in the Southern Series by Natasha Madison and I have to say I am really enjoying it. Being a romantic at heart, sometimes I just want a smooth easy read that isn’t too taxing on the emotional front, that is light on the action but with plenty of hot loving and romance.I enjoyed this book so much better than the first because you could really feel the sizzling connection between Casey & Olivia and the book kicks off into action from the first page. I did get a little frustrated with the push & pull between them particularly towards the end but yes, it was a good easy read for me. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.

It was okay
2½ to 3 starsYeah it was okay.I got this from bookbub as a freebie so haven't read book 1.I liked the build up to finding out what Olivia had of Dominic's.I do feel that everyone treated Olivia like she was breakable. Maybe I'd understand better if I'd have read book 1.One thing I'd like to point out is....You can not, I repeat, you can not spoil a two week old baby. Also I'd like to stay it is better to keep a baby in the same room as the parents until at least 6 months old
