20 Gospel Favorites

I love Burl Ives but this isn't my favorite. I absolutely cannot abide his cover of "How Great Thou Art". I get that he's feeling small in the presence of God but to my mind that's a song that should be sung with all the strength, feeling and volume (practically shouting from the rooftops to the glory of God our Father) that can be mustered out of a body (think how Elvis sang it). The rest of the selections are pretty good, though, and include back-up by a children's choir which is a nice touch but at the same time gets a little old. I found I enjoy the whole thing much more after I ripped it and mixed most of the songs from Gospel Favorites with those from his  Inspirational Favorites  album. Together they make a fantastic Burl Ives album!

I have a quite large gospel collection and this one made it a lot better. An excellent gospel cd.

It’s perfect as I am using a song from it to be played for my daddy’s memorial thank you it played like new

20 Gospel favourites just as it says, Burl Ives makes you want to keep singing after you have play the cd.t was worth the wait as it comes from America but good service.

very good with he exception of "Amazing Grace" and "How great Thou Art". I thought the CD would be improved without these.
