I have all three of the encre noire scents, and of them all, I fine this one to be the best. It does have somewhat of an aquatic vibe but it still have that lovely vetiver that is so amazing in the original rendition. The overall variation upon the original to me is absolutely amazing. If I could only wear one cologne for the rest of my life, I would seriously consider this one to be the choice.I strictly wear cologne for my own personal benefit as I have a wife that is likely on a roller coaster of sniffing my cologne, and while some may be appalling to her, this one draws compliments. It is also something that will warrant unsolicited compliments. The freshness makes it tolerable in hot weather and the base encre noire vetiver makes it a good cold weather scent. The real baffling issue though, is HOW ARE ALL OF THESE LALIQUE PERFUMES SO AFFORDABLE AND SO DAMN EXQUISITE? I also have a backup bottle of this. Truly magnificent

Love this stuff; bought from Amazon directly (no third party seller), and I confirmed the batch code checks out and its genuine juice.This stuff is 95% of what the original Encre noire is, however you are going to get some citrus at the beginning, and it is an easier fragrance to wear than Encre noire is. The original is just a very dark scent, and its not exactly a people pleaser. This "Sport" flanker, however, makes a lot more sense in warmer seasons and climates, and dries down to be a little bit easier on the common persons nose.I recommend it if you like the original. If you haven't picked up the original but want to give this stuff a shot, I say give it a shot. Blind buy that turned out well. Just understand that the notes are exactly as people describe them as. It is inky and it is dark.

Don’t buy this without smelling it first!! It may for men, but this is a very soft feminine smelling cologne. It first comes off like alcohol and fruity chamomile oil, then it dries down to a soft powdery cashmere wood. Not a man’s man smell, not an alpha male cologne.Edit: upgraded to four stars. I salvaged this by using it at night while winding down before bed. The lavender and soft wood are a nice relaxing touch. Not what I would want to wear for a romantic evening, but for just relaxing into some evening hobby or light paperwork, it works. Also, having sampled many colognes, this one has a better and less synthetic scent than most in this price range.

Love this cologne

I fell victim to the hype of the original encre noire and bought it but....I didn't really like it. Certain parts of it were good, like the dark earthy vetiver and cypress but after that it dries down to a smelly old lady type of perfume. I thought to myself, "this could really be great with a few minor tweaks".Encre noire sport is just that. It adds a slight citrus and watery scent to the beautiful vetiver and cypress and creates a really smooth, more mellow version of the original. This is way easier to wear and much more pleasant. Performance is great, it lasts a long time (8-10 hours on me) with just enough projection to please whoever else may get within a few feet of you. Excellent stuff for the price!

I bought Encre Noire Sport (ENS) because I’d read that it was, essentially, a somewhat lighter, more approachable version of the original Encre Noire -- not as dark but still unmistakably vetiver. I’m a little disappointed. As a huge fan of vetiver, I’d actually be fine with the original -- or the original Guerlain Vetiver, for that matter -- if I were the only one smelling it on me, but I don’t like blasting others with strong fragrances, especially in the office. However, ENS is almost TOO light, at least on me. After giving myself four solid pumps of ENS, my GF had to get within a foot of me to smell it just an hour later. Too much sillage is definitely not a problem -- and that’s the problem.Also, some people have described ENS as a blend of original Guerlain Vetiver and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, and, like others, that sounded amazing to me -- the former is an old-school, high-octane, tobacco-y vetiver and the latter, while lovely, isn’t woodsy/smoky enough to my nose. (I get nearly as much citrus as I do vetiver from Tom Ford GV, even after dry-down.) Something right in the middle sounded like the best of both worlds. But to me, ENS is much closer to Tom Ford GV. That’s not a bad thing in and of itself -- Tom Ford GV is very elegant -- but not enough vetiver comes through for me in the ENS.I’ve used Givenchy Vetyver off and on for several years, and although many people also knock it for its minimal sillage, it’s more classically vetiver than ENS. Givenchy Vetyver, and not ENS, is actually a better example of an old-school vetiver (a la Guerlain) without the assertive sillage and tobacco.

This fragrance is really one of those to purchase again, I like how smells, the most I can perceive are the grapefruit notes, combined with the bergamot, the others I can tell about are the cypress and lavender notes, the other notes (vetiver, musk, etc) unfortunately My nose doesn’t go any further, longevity on me is for about 7 hours, after their that is a really personal bubble projection, the first two hours is like 1.5m bubble projection. On my clothes last longer, because I still can smell it the very next day.Definitely one more for my collection of life time.

I love vetiver and you need to know your disposition to it before buying. If you enjoy it - buy this. This is not a sweet scent. This is a masculine earthy vetiver that is fresher than the original so it can be worn year round. I really like it because it it one of those scents that is not a summer freshie or a sweet cool weather scent. It is a nice rotational alternative that works for all occassions.
