Barrettine 4L Creocote Brown Wood Treatment Timber Stain Preserver Creosote Substitute (Dark)

So decided to buy this to coat the timber on my decking frame and just WOW, 4ltrs goes a long way and I got a little section wet after it had dried and the water just rolled off it like it was allergic to it, when it comes round to doing the fence this is the stuff I intend on using. The dark colour is obviously dark so for me one coat is plenty but if you want it really dark two coats should be very sufficient. There's no smell to it and if you get it on your hands a bit of home bargains elbow grease and a anti scratch scrubber will sort you right out, I definitely recommend you where scruffs though because if you get it on your clothes you ain't getting it out. A small roller with an emulsion head and brush will cover what ever you need but it is very watery so be careful where painting because it will splatter things if you go mad with it.

Really easy to use and by far and away the cheapest product in its class. Doesn’t smell as good as the original product though. Although it says light brown on the tub it’s not actually that light however, my panels do now have a rich golden hue to them and we are very pleased. If you have a lot of panels as we do I certainly think this should be considered.

Does what creosote used to do without damaging chemicals. Good coverage. Pick a brush you'll dedicate to sacrificing to the job as you'll never be able to use it for anything else though. Good stuff. Has protected osb board. Wooden posts. Going to use it on the shed next and 7 fence panels still to do, 5 on both sides, so watch this space!

Better than anything else

Absolutely great product would definitely recommend. However, getting the top off the container requires advice from NASSA - I used a hammer, a chissel and a spanner and it took me nearly 30 minutes.
