Great cherry pitter
This cherry pitter works great! We had about 25 lbs of cherries from our tree and used this to pit them. It's easy to use and does a great job of removing the pits. I noticed a little bit of trouble with having the cherries feed into the pitting slot automatically, but I just adjusted how I loaded them, by loading only a handful at a time, and that solved the issue.

This is the one!
This is the one! You might still miss a pit here or there, but it works really well overall - fast and easy to operate! I've had multiple varieties previously and broken or discarded all. This one now sits on my counter throughout cherry season (which I love)!

Love this thing
We recently moved to the Flathead Valley in Montana where cherries are abundant. They have gone from an occasional treat to a common food. Instead of occasionally buying a bag and eating them as a snack, we have processed 80 lbs (!?!) in the last few weeks. Early on it became clear we needed a better way to pit them. After researching options and reading reviews we settled on this one. Over all, we are very satisfied. The not-so-good-It does miss about 1 in 15 pits and the faster you go the more it misses.-There is a little rubber gasket that the plunger goes through to prevent the cherry from getting pushed through into the pit bowl, this can shift and block the plunger. If you're paying attention you realize it and can move it back, if you're like me and just trying to pit as many as possible then you just push the plunger harder and punch a hole through the gasket.-It has a hard time with very small or very large cherries.-Cherry juice gets EVERYWHERE, we are still finding the occasional cherry juice splatter on the wall or cupboard even though it has been a couple weeks since the last time we used it.The Good-You can pit a lot of cherries very quick, the hopper is decent size and the pit bowl can hold a lot of pits, allowing you to take less breaks to refill/empty-It comes apart very easily and is easy to clean-Aside from the gasket, it appears well built and will last forever (the gasket would probably last forever too if it wasn't for user error)If you need to pit a lot of cherries, this is a good way to go. Just don't go too fast as it will miss some, and if the plunger is hard to push...move the gasket back in place, don't push harder.

Fast and easy to use
Works wonderfully. My son had 6 pounds of cherries done in about 20 minutes. Very quick and easy to use. Easy to take apart and clean.

Works well
Works well! Fast processing of our 30 pounds of cherries. Easy to spot and correct it if a pit doesn't kick out but usually it does on the first try. I feed them in one at a time to help keep things flowing.

It doesnt get all the stones.
The Good:Clean up is easy if you rinse it out immediately after use. Don't let things get stuck on and dry in one of the crevices. Otherwise you are good. Technique helps. Overall it is easier than using a knife on every single one of them. The Bad:It doesn't get all of the pits. You have one Job!!!! I've destoned hundreds if not over a thousand cherries with mine. Using the best technique I can muster, I can get it down to 1 in 10 missing the stone, but it's not all technique. Too ripe and it doesn't pick up the cherry to discard it into the bowl. Not ripe enough and the cherry meat holds on to the stone too tight and it will just flex around inside the fruit and not press through. Maybe there's a way to prep the fruit that would help. Say microwave it for a few seconds to loosen up all the hard cherries? All I know is, at best, you have a hole to stick your finger in to verify the stone is gone or pick it out yourself. The Ugly:If you miss a stone you could damage your juicer, teeth, or reputation for the best cherry pie. There's got to be something better out there than this. Also technique is important. You will need to shove down until you hit the pit. then ramp up pressure to press it through. If you just Slap Chop it, you will nock the pit out of the way. Most importantly, remember to pull the mechanism back up forcefully to eject the (hopefully) pitted cherry into the bowl or the next one won't center properly and you'll definitely miss the pit on that one. Also, don't trust the hopper. Just roll them out of your hand one at a time.

Great product but arrived damaged!
The engineering is fabulous, but the pit receptacle was broken and cracked in several places. I needed immediately, so we glued it back together and got to work.

SO GOOD
We love this cherry pitter. We got it recently because we love taking advantage of really good sales on cherries during cherry season (and hope to have our own cherry tree someday). Our previous pitting method was by hand via knife. It would take me about 1.5 or 2 hours to pit about 3 bags of cherries by hand (I am guessing this could be about 6-9 lbs of cherries?). With this pitter, it takes about 10 or 15 minutes to pit them (and another few minutes to de-stem). The only minor shortfall that we have experienced is that the spout where the pitted cherry comes out is only a few inches above your table or counter surface, which limits the size of the bowl that the cherries fall into. This could be easily fixed by pitting into some other container, like a baking sheet with a raised rim. Or by creating a sturdy surface that elevates the pitter above your larger bowl. While there is some minor juice spatter (which is fixed by not wearing white clothes and by putting down a tea towel), it is well worth the efficiency and the juice spatter isn't bad enough to be wasteful. All in all, a fantastic product. This will save you so much time if your alternative is to pit cherries by hand. It also stores well, as the plunger detaches and can fit inside the bottom portion. Easy to clean, especially if you clean it soon after use.
