My favorite recipe keeper; great for gift-giving.
I've had many "recipe journals" and this is, by far, my favorite. I purchased this some time ago, and loved the layout and how much room there is to write down one's favorite recipes. Most other recipe journals or notes only have a few lines, and I cook more complex recipes that require more room. The two pages per recipe is a bit "overboard," considering how much room there is on each page already, but if one has large handwriting and/or lengthy recipes, it is perfect. My handwriting tends toward the smaller side, so I find I have more room than I really need; still, I prefer to have more room than I need, than not enough - as has been my experience with other recipe keepers!Despite being spiral-bound, this book is surprisingly sturdy. We have moved several times, and it has held up very well throughout all of our moves, even when it was stored in a rather musty garage during one of those moves.I just purchased this recipe journal for the second time, as a gift for my mother on Mother's Day. I thought she might love her own copy of our family favorites. I have plans to purchase a third very soon for my grandmother. The Table of Contents is somewhat of a bone of contention, in my book. There is not enough room to write each recipe, if it has a lengthy title. For instance, in my own journal, I can easily write: "Country Baked Potato Soup" in my smallish hand, and it just fits in the space provided. If, however, I want to write a more lengthy recipe title, such as "Roast Lamb with Peppercorn Crust," it will not fit, and runs into the "Comments" space. I would rather have more space to write a long'ish recipe title than to add any "comments" in the Table of Contents. It seems rather counter-intuitive. Still, it's a very small complaint when considering how intuitive the rest of the journal is.Pros:LOTS of room to write your favorite recipes, even lengthy ones.Extra space allotted for "Other Instructions / Tips for Success" on each pageExtra space allotted for a photo or sketch of each recipe on each page, if you're so inclinedTons of pages, perfect for a larger recipe collectionTable of ContentsEach page has extra space allotted for recipe Creator; Complexity; Prep Time; Cooking Time; Serving Size; Number of Servings; Nutritional Info; and quite a bit of space dedicated to the History of the recipe. I haven't needed any extra room so far, save in the Table of Contents, where some extra space could have come in handy.Cons:Not many to speak of; my only gripe is the Table of Contents and it's odd "Comments" section, which shortens the space allotted for writing the actual name of the recipe.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I am in the process of writing all of my favorite recipes down in a single place. Rather than going with a technology-heavy medium (for instance, saving them all on allrecipes.com or building my own database of recipes), I wanted something that I could have handy in the kitchen...so I went old school! My own hard-copy cookbook! This book is sturdily put together, with easy-to-turn pages. It's bound like an old school wire notebook, so the pages will lay flat when you open it. You can put your recipes on the front and back of the paper using a ballpoint pen with no bleed-through.The recipe pages themselves are put together logically, in a way that is easy-to-follow for a reader.I'm hoping to fill the book up and one day hand it over to one of the younger folks in the next generation of cooks. I think this will hold up nicely over the passage of time!

Better Than I Imagined
This recipe book far exceeds my expectations. There is so much room to write the recipes. I love that the recipe directions are on the opposite page. And able to add photos?! I am definitely going to use this cool feature. And much to my surprise they even have table of contents pages thus relieving me of having to thumb through every recipe when looking for that certain one! I also bought two books for my daughters and I am certain we will be sharing recipes with one anotherBut for me the best part of this recipe book is that there is enough space that I am able to write the history of how I came to have a recipe, who shared it with me, the occasion why the recipe was shared. Family and friend anecdotes about a time when preparing a recipe. On the day I received my book I added four family favorite recipes and each of those recipes had history, a story. What a great gift to pass on to my daughters.

Finally writing down all those recipes in my head
When my mom died she took all those recipes in her head with her and it is very sad because some days I really want to cook one of her dishes but I can't. I decided to start writing all those things my family love down in a book for everyone. Some recipes I only make once or twice a year so to refresh my memory it is right there in one place. If you have recipes and foods your family love write them down so they people you love will have them forever. The book is well laid out and very easy to use.

Just exactly what I was looking for
I bought this for my son as a Christmas gift. The layout allowed me space to include the recipe, any tips or quick helps I've learned that relate, and my favorite part was including memories about the recipe-Holiday specialty, what I served with it, modifications that can be made to jazz it up or tone it down, stories he would recall about the recipe - for example one pie recipe we renamed "Thanksgiving upside down caramel apple pie" after I spilled the entire pie into the hot oven-an event not soon forgotten the night before Thanksgiving. I searched all around for a similar version, but could not find one locally. This book is WONDERFUL! It is large and has enough space for many recipes, which allowed me to include all of his favorites, with plenty of room left for him to add his own. Get it! Use it! Gift it!

Very Nice Cook's Journal
Love the fact that the book is ringed and not bound. It makes it so much easier to flip and keep pages open. Purchased as a gift for a co-worker who loves to cook. He is always explaining his recipes but never writes them down! I hope he gets excited with this recipe book. The book is very large and has lots of pages and space for detailed explanations. The spacing between the lines is more than generous; great for people with large print. Illustrations are in good tastes in not excessive; they do not detract from the “future” content. Considering purchasing one for myself, or rather to record my mother’s recipes. I do not understand the negative reviews, especially those that compare it to a notebook--it does say "Journal" on the description...There IS supposed to be a lot of writing space.

Great little recipe book!
Using this as a tool to help our daughter learn how to cook family recipes. Great way to preserve traditional recipes and develop a repertoire of healthy meals.

Good book; would buy again but I don’t have that many recipes.
Love it. Each page has it’s own recipe (pay attention to which version you are buying because they have different layouts).I haven’t run into a problem with space but I do have small hand writing. The only thing I wish it had was a pocket for original recipe cards. For now I just have them tucked inside the back pocket and may add one myself later. I didn’t take a star off for that though because that’s personal preference and it came exactly as advertised. We’ve only had it for a few months and it’s already a staple. I can see myself passing this book down to my daughter when she grow up. We’ve already sent lots of time reading and making recipes from it.The spiral bound also allows it to lat flat or fold when reading a recipe. Haven’t had any issues and the index at the front for listing recipes and their pages is useful as well.

Perfect size and set up
this book is perfect - it's a great price (most were 2 or 3x the price) and it has absolutely everything that you need.

Perfect For Your Hand Written and Cut Out Recipes
Gift for partner who had requested a notepad for recording recipes. She was thrilled with this pad liking all factors but especially the laminated cover and being able to lay the pages flat. The size is first class as A4(which the majority of pads are) is too large and difficult to handle. This pad is approximately the size of the recipe books owned and fits perfectly in her library. Highly recommended

Well organised, well made
I bought as a way of keeping track of good recipes for uni and it's such a cute little book. I really wanted one with a plastic cover so it's easy to wipe off, which this has, and each of the pages are well organised so you can sort all the information (even a little rating scale for how much you enjoy each dish). What I really love is it has a page to write where everything is so you can find what you want quickly. Would definitely recommend!
