Spend the money for a Rinai or Navien
To begin with...withoit any power to it at all this heater is LOUD. I installed it in my basement in a closet and when I opened the uosyaira door that opens to the basement you could hear it running. Once the licensed plumber and electrician opened all the faucets to remove all air from the lines and energized the elements they only worked half the time.Another thing is water pressure is virtually nonexistent. You can't run 2 bathroom faucets at the same time. Thus purchase was a waste of time and money.

Half priced.
We replaced an existing unit in a airplane hanger. Although the one we replaced had a compression inlet and outlet this was a simple install. We also saved 50% what a local wholesaler wanted. We also got it quicker then our wholesaler was going to get it. Was able to sell this for less then wholesalers price. Would get this here then the wholesaler.

Eemax breaks down way too often
I have gone through a couple of these and I'm sorry, they are too prone to failure. The heating elements often burn out and the electronics are also too fragile.I have since switched to Ecosmart ECO 18 and can not recommend it enough.Ecosmart feels like it is made by Tonka - they just don't break, whereas these Eemax units seem like they are built out of fragile tissue. Can not recommend Eemax.

This is a great unit. Produces tons of hot water
This is a great unit. Produces tons of hot water. Make sure when you hook it up that you turn the water on BEFORE you turn on the power. This way you protect the heating elements from burnout. We love it. We upgraded from our 12 year old eemax 95 unit that was flow controlled. We are very happy with it.

Defective Heater? Yes
So far I am underwhelmed by the water heater. I had this installed for a studio apartment above the garage about 8 months ago. I use the apartment about once a month and this past weekend the heater wouldn't get the water hot enough for a shower. I contacted an electrician who informed me that the elements were both burned out. I would certainly expect that the heater would be more durable than 8 weekends worth of use. I am going to be contacting the manufacturer to see if they will send me replacement elements (which I will still have to pay to have installed) and will update my review at that time.this is an update to the previous review... The manufacturer promptly sent replacement elements and I paid $163 to have them replaced by an electrician. The heater worked great for the next 2 visits and then started acting up again. The water would get warm and then cold. I called the electrician back and he confirmed that the element(s) were once again burned out. I had to have hot water so I called a plumbing company to have a traditional hot water tank heater installed and had this electric on demand device removed fromt the wall. I am now in contact with the seller to see what my recourse is. Once again I will update this review once I have heard back from Plumbers Surplus...I'm hoping their warranty will cover the cost of the original heater.
