NOT a light roast. It is a FRENCH Roast. Much too dark. Burnt
I am a coffee roaster, worked for a private cafe last year but since haven't had access to good beans. Was excited to have a light roast Guatamala, they can develop nice chocolatey flavors with fruit notes and the description matched this expectation. Completely disappointed. NOT a light roast at all. Coffee is cooked to a crisp. Taste burnt and smokey. Obviously roasted until 2nd crack, which is confirmed in attached photo by the larger size of the beans and oiliness. Picture shows true light roast on the left and CopperMoon "light" roast on the right.

Revised review. My apologies to Copper Moon and coffee lovers alike
This is an amended review. I originally gave this coffee only 3 stars (generously) and didn't think that much of it. At the time, I was not personally preparing the coffee myself. She appeared to be doing it correctly, grinding the beans fresh and using a french press but wasn't using the correct water temperature and under or over steeping. I now brew this myself using a water temp of 200 degrees and steeping for 3.5 to 4 minutes. You might think trying to get the water to 200 is a tedious pain in the tuckes but here's the trick: I use water from the refrigerator and heat it in the microwave. I use water from the refrigerator not only because it is filtered but because it is always the same starting temperature. I always nuke the exact same amount of water in the same vessel for the same amount of time. So the first couple of times I did this I had to use a thermometer (stir the water before measuring) to discover the right amount of time to get the temp I wanted. But I now know that for my microwave 7:00 minutes is the right amount of time for 28 oz. of water. The result is that I now get a very good cup of Sumatra. It's not perfect but its tastes like Sumatra now. I like it as my daily drinker, and at the current price of 5 to 6 /lb I find it to be an outstanding value.

Terrible value for not much money indeed!
I should have known better, but.... and I still should have known better, even if there are quite a few positive reviews. As a European, I love my coffee more than any American ever could. I found this out when I arrived here many years ago, and when I discovered how most people drink coffee here! So, this coffee is so tasteless that I am not sure what I brewed. Some coffees have weak flavor, some have flat flavor, but this has none whatsoever. Every morning, I religiously brew a great cup of espresso, hand ground and freshly brewed, of course, and it has to have excellent flavors, a full body and a great head of "crema" on top of the brew. This coffee has no flavor at all, Sumatra or other. I am shocked how poorly this brews! Basically, one ha no idea what one is drinking! It is so boring and "thin", that I sipped one mouth full and then put the cup down and literally forgot about it! I found it when I got back from the gym three hours later...That has never happened to me before. So, if you love a great cup of strong and flavorful coffee, not just some brown brew, you can spare yourself the time and money to get this one. In any other case, go right ahead, it won't matter much!

All mouths are different but this roast is great!
A very mild taste. I ordered while waiting for some Sumatra to arrive. I was surprised how non-offensive this roast was. What I don't like it acidic coffee that bites. What I got in this roast was a roast that did not feel sharp on the tongue and smooth. I rarely, if ever buy pre-roasted coffee so this was absolutely ON-TARGET for my taste. If you don't like sharp, tangy, smoky coffee this is your best bet!

Flavor be gone! Hello banality!
Tired of the strong, rich aroma of columbian coffee? Had your fill of "mmmmmm" and just want some good old-fashioned "meh". Have you been searching for a morning beverage with the smell and flavor of hot water? Well wait no longer! Flavorless coffee. It sounds like an oxymoron, but I'm here to confirm that it has been acheived with Copper Moon Columbian Blend, Medium Roast coffee. No more will you have to suffer through the warm, inviting aroma of fresh brewed coffee. These bean were plucked from the tree, stripped of the outer cherry, cleaned, left to air in the open desert sun for 100 years, then burried for 1000 years deep in the earth until mummified. A final three week soaking to remove any accidental trace of flavor, then roasted to nice dark grey-brown before bagging. Finally, another two years sitting on a shelf before being declared good enough to sell. One sip of this vacuous concoction and you will swear it's like drinking nothing at all. Get your bag today and wipe that morning smile from your face.

I'll probably buy again
I'm simply using this review as an avenue to respond to the lady who thinks that she likes coffee more than any "American ever could". If this is a misquote I do not apologize, (how American is that?). I would like to remind her that when you insult one's culture by using generalizations it makes you look insensitive and ignorant. Believe me, I am a bit snobby when it comes to coffee beans and the way it is brewed myself. I'm tired of foreigners thinking that all Americans are this or that based off of what one experiences through the media or whomever is our elected officials. I could easily mention that since you like coffee so strong and flavorful that you probably have smelly breath. Or I could mention that you may not know how to brew coffee the correct way. I personally think that the coffee is okay not terrible. Taste is subjective, it shouldn't be a way to insult or condemn an entire nation. Especially a nation that is so diverse.

Incredible value, fullbodied sumatra, dark roast!
I did not expect much when I bought this as two pounds for $11.00 and change is incredibly inexpensive. I was wrong..the key is not to use too much. Two tablespoons coffee ..yields a full bodied Sumatra..dark roast but not bitter. I love buying beans so that when ground they are immediately used..so fresh...This is worth the buy! Will be buying again very shortly.

Great coffee for the price
Has a nice mix of slightly fruity and a dark roast flavor, which is exactly what I was after with a medium-dark roast. Doesn't have that beany flavor like a Colombian, which I don't really like so this is very good imo. The beans look nice. Didn't find any small, broken, off roasted or otherwise bad looking beans when I ground some this morning which shows care in roasting. You can pay a lot more for coffee this good. Definitely recommend.
