Wege of Hanover Sourdough Hard Pretzels (28-oz Barrel)

Good flavor, just the right amount of salt

Honestly, I could live with broken pretzels. Mind you there was not one whole pretzel. I cannot live without salt on my pretzels! I am not even exaggerating, ALL the salt was at the bottom of the barrel!

I have been purchasing barrels of other brands of hard pretzels for years because they are filling & bland enough to go with any drink or snack - but these WEGE PRETZELS are delicious !! Seriously the best, most flavorful pretzel I’ve ever had . I ordered these because I’d get them the next day and what a fabulous surprise . They are not as big as other hard pretzels but are lighter & have a buttery taste . They came in one piece - not as broken as others I’ve ordered & they often are stale. These taste like they were baked today . I’m setting up a schedule for delivery - they will go quickly . They are worth every penny !

I note that one can buy large hard pretzel pieces...ie broken segments of whole pretzels at a reduced price. So here I wrongfully assume that the full-price pretzel barrel should contain whole pretzels? Well, they don't. Three out of dozens were whole. Other than the shattering reality they tasted fine. Maybe a bit more salt would have been in order.

Wege pretzels are in my opinion far superior to the usual national brands... I met Mr. Wege many years ago and he convinced me he put enormous amounts of love and care into his products.. They have superior taste with lots of crunch and just the right amount of salt.. You won't find them in many stores outside of Pennsylvania so I'd suggest stocking up here on Amazon or writing directly to the company.. Great people with a great product. And NO I'm not a member of the family, just a fan..

The pretzels arrived broken. In addition, I could get the same quality for much less at my local Walmart.

Very crispy, fresh, and the best thing is, they are not rock-hard like most others. Less chance of breaking a tooth. They are crunchy, but your teeth sort of crunch right through them - 5 stars.Almost no salt, though. And maybe 3 times the cost of other brands. Also, the lid is not a screw top - it’s a snap-on. Not sure how fresh these would stay.Years ago, when they sold these in stores in a box or bag, they were my favorite. Now, I won’t buy them ever again - essentially no salt, bland, and way too expensive. I ate some and then gave the remaining 4/5ths to a relative.

Edit:Seriously everyone, do you not understand how shipping works? Instead of basing your reviews on how the pretzels arrive, you base it on the actual taste, which is incredible.Original review:Excellent pretzels. I never expect, and honestly don't want, my sourdough hards to come entirely whole. There were several whole pretzels that did manage to survive and I still have one when I'm getting to the bottom of the container, but these types of pretzels are best eaten in pieces. Regardless of the condition they arrived in, these are the best hard sourdough pretzels I've ever had and I'll continue to get them.
