Leica Collectors Guide: 2nd Edition (Hove Collectors Books) Hardcover – July 1, 2005

This is an outstanding compilation of all information related to cameras, lens, projectors, binoculars, and accessary production at Wetzlar and more recently Solms, Germany. The book is full of facts related to this enterprise. It is an updated version of the original but is much more as there is much expandion on many of the sections found in the prior book. I also have the prior edition and was impressed with the amount of updated information and the sections containing details on the early history of the company. Where this book really shines is the breath of information about all the many items manufactured by the company. If I were to have one book on things Leica, this would be it. It is not a pocket book, and is a little thick but when you need information on something of interest related to this company, it is there. I highly recommend this excellent and well written book.

As Leica is a legacy, so is this book. It is the best book on Leicas that I have used. The only additional information, that would be extremely interesting, would be a narrative on each model -- that is the historical context: who used them, how they were used, some classical photos taken with each model, etc. Being a history buff, the "story" behind each model (and perhaps each lens type) would add tremendous value to the book, and would be worth paying for such expansions.

This remains the definitive guide for Leica with all the details that a collector or dealer could want - except that it is still not up to date. Clearly, a lot of research is necessary for this to happen but Leica's legend still burns bright so there should be no lack of demand.

A treasure trove of information, not found easily. Presented in easy to follow format. Just a must great book to have for the Leica Collector & or Dealer. The quality of the book emulates the quality of the Leica camera. You won`t be dissappointed added this book to your library.

Great information on all Leica products but I was expecting that there might be some values for old equipment.However the advertisements did not indicate there would be prices.

This is one book you'd want to have on Leica.

The only draw back is no MTF was included as in the Leica Pocket Book.

A must to have if you like/own Leica cameras. High quality publication, display, and most certainly the information. Arrived promptly from the US and was very well packaged. Highly recommended!

Dieses Buch ist jedem LEICA Fan als Standardliteratur zu empfehlen!Ein gut gemachtes Buch. Drucktechnisch nicht unbedingt ein Meisterwerk, jedoch ein schönes Nachschlagewerk.

very good value. everything you need to know abouy leicas

I have bought this book twice now, the older edition and this new one.The 2004 (current) edition is obviously more complete and definetevely worthed having it, adding reviews on the newest Leica lenses and cameras, if you need a book on Leica which encloses pretty much everything at a decent price this one is, but, in my opinion, it falls sometimes short on description and often on pictures as well, even if there are some very beautiful color ones scattered around (but too little...). Don't get me wrong, with this book you get to have a look at ALL Leica products, from the beginning to date, but even at over 600 pages, there is a feeling of something missing, you are left craving for more...I do own the Jim Lager Illustrated Leica History on three volumes, much more expensive but so much more full of detailed info and beautiful life size pictures...Another low point of this book is also the pretty large amount of typographical errors...they could have done better with that...!All in all, anyway, after the Lager Leica "Bible", this is the one to go if you are a Leica addict...and if you're reading this you probably are...!
