Charlie's Angels

If you're looking for two hours of dumb fun, this movie fits the bill quite well. Not sure why this performed so poorly at the box office but I have a few ideas (more on that shortly). First, the good news. These three young actresses are fantastic and their onscreen chemistry is a pleasure to watch. All of them are beautiful, charismatic and have amazing comic timing. This was supposed to be a Kristen Stewart led vehicle and she is clearly very talented but I thought Ella Balinksa stole this movie. She's truly riveting from beginning to end. Watts (who I first watched in Aladdin) was also very good. Why did this movie bomb? Critics have said the lead star power just wasn't there. That may have played a part but my theory is that this movie had nowhere near the T&A quotient that male viewers have come to expect from these movies. Think about it...What do guys growing up in the 70s remember most about TV's Charlie's Angels? Farrah's hair and Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith in tiny bikinis. What do they remember about the 2000s Charlie's Angels? Lots of cleavage and semi-nudity, and Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore simulating girl on girl relations at the beach...while wearing tiny bikinis. This Charlie's Angels was way tamer. Sure they wear quite a few skimpy and tight outfits but it was far less skin than what fans of the franchise got to see in the earlier movies. Perhaps that was due to the director and star Elizabeth Banks's emphasis on proving women can do their own thing and ring their own bells or whatever. That message is drummed into the viewer's head from the beginning of the trailer (and the film) and repeats many times throughout the movie. A wonderful and powerful message. Nothing wrong with it. But if viewers suspected they were gonna be hit over the head with it (as the trailers suggested) when they just wanted a silly escape on date night, it's not surprising that many stayed away. By the way, it probably didn't help that powerhouse actors like Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou got so little screen time.

I bought this movie because I saw it in theaters and loved it. I loved it because of what it's trying to be, even when it falls short. It's trying to be an action movie that respects the women who came before them. This makes it endearing.I grew up watching Charlie's Angels in the '70s. It was always silly fun, but it had some serious moments. In my opinion, the action in the Charlie's Angels of the early '00s was so over-the-top cheesy, with bad action scenes that were ridiculously unbelievable. They were so outlandish that it seemed like they were making fun of the original series. However, the actresses had great chemistry, which made them watchable.The 2019 version is a perfect balance of fun, action, and chemistry. Some of the acting was a little excessive; some of the jokes fell flat. Still, there was more good than bad.Newcomer Ella Balinska plays "Jane," a former MI6 agent. Naomi Scott (Aladdin) plays "Elena," an engineer; and Kristen Stewart (Clouds of Sils Maria) plays "Sabina," a misfit who found purpose being an Angel. They all do well in their respective roles, and we get to see the three women become a unit, which was fun!I would highly recommend this version of Charlie's Angels. Just sit back, relax, pop some popcorn and enjoy.

Officially one of my favorite movies

I do not understand why some of the critics are harsh?!?Is it the best action movie: no. And that's ok!!! Is it the worst: NO!If you like Charlie's Angels, and movies such as Men of U.N.C.L.E, or KingsMen, then you are in for a treat.Yes, at first they were some sort of P.I, mostly working in the U.S. (in the series). Well now they are international. And so what? They were already traveling quite a bit in the previous movies. Yes, there are messages that are empowering for women. It is a little bit more put up front in that one, but well those women always kicked a#@$$! From the series to the features prior to that one. So, all critics based on those aspects alone are off the subject.Also, I never hoped to see a film with many layers or great substance. Not that movie does not have some depth, but let's be clear and honest, you are not watching a Charlie's Angels movie (or Guardians of the Galaxy, or Hobbs and Shaw etc...) If you are looking for such movie.In regard of the action and the way to direct, I personally liked most scenes, and liked the cars' stunts.If you want to have a good uncomplicated time, with an "easy" action movie, colorful, fun and with a great soundtrack, go ahead.

So I’m a long time CA fan. From the first movie to the remakes with DBM,Cam Diaz, Lucy Liu. I LOVED them.Now this movie gets better about 30-40 mins into it, the action and plot pick up…AND I am a fan of K stew, but as a decently “makeuped” masculine/ Tom boy/ bisexual myself…..I REALLY FELT like they used K stew as “Queer Bait” and I was NOT buying into her ridiculous stereotype. It was obnoxious as heck.It was more offensive than inclusive and I’m a pretty hard person to “offend” I’m not a cupcake that cries over everything but dang, I really did not enjoy the way they portrayed her character.

I want to tell you that this is a movie that I consider to be good, it is normal, it is entertaining for my personal taste. But if we talk about the transfer in 4K, this particular case is the one that I want to talk about in depth. It is a title that, honestly, if we are collectors, we have to have on our shelf or library, as is customary, all the transfers that Sony has made are, on average, good. there may be one or another exception but well in this case it is not like that the colors the contrasts everything is very well taken care of in terms of HDR

Al igual que sus antecesoras, la pelicula sirve para pasar un buen rato comiendo palomitas. Nunca espere una gran pelicula y justo es lo que esperaba. Tiene buenas escenas de accion y las protagonistas son de gran carisma y conectan bien con el publico. Para pasar un buen rato. El 4K, con el HDR se ven bastante bien. El sonido es en Dolby Atmos y cumple (en lo personal, me gustan mas los formatos DTS-X porque los Dolby vienen mas comprimidos) pero se escucha bien.

This is a must have movie Kristen Stewart totally redeemed herself in my eyes as an actor. The action is fantastic nice little curve ball at the end couldn't ask for anything better.
