Boomerang Baby
Don't be fooled by the music and dance themes there's barely an ounce of joy to be had here, and it's quite a struggle to care much about our main characters or even see them as fully-formed -perhaps due to their odd choices (we soon learn the central character Ema gave her adopted son back due to the toddler's violent behaviour) or simply because we feel estranged somehow by this cool, humourless urban dance crowd.Apparently, in preparation for the lead role 'Mariana di Girolamo attended ballet and pilates classes to improve her posture and make her look like a professional dancer' and yet her face remains static for almost the entire film.Fame this is not x

Stunning photography and breathtaking dance sequences intercut with graphic consensual sex scenes
The film is about a dance captain and her choreographer husband whose relationship breaks down after they return their adopted son to the orphanage. Stunning photography and breathtaking dance sequences are contrasted with acrimonious characters, very strong language, graphic consensual sex scenes and an unsettling ending. 5*
