Decent Storyline - Discriptively Over Done
The storyline is good and if it had been about a quarter the length it would have a pretty good book. The authors sentence structure and syntax was good and so it was easy to read and understand. There was no glaring "what the heck does that mean" moments for me.The premise was child abuse and murder which causes great internal conflict with the MC when he tries to come to terms with his past. If the story had stuck to that and the solving of the murders it would have been fine. To say the MC was conflicted is putting it mildly. One stream of conscience scene went on for pages and I thought perhaps the best place for this guy was a nice rest home. From his many visualizations I could not tell whether he was gay, het, bi or just plain confused. Seemed to me at one time or another he visualized sex with every other character in the book. The cast of characters was pretty interesting but everyone was so earnest and understanding it was beyond credible. The really problem with the book was the endless detail. It was boring me out of my mind and did not enhance the story what-so-ever. Three or four paragraphs or in some cases pages to describe in detail, including the type of china, placemats, silverware and where people were being seated for a meal is WAY too much. Every scene, every place visited and every room entered was described in such minute detail I wondered if any action regardless of how boring was going to take place!!! I surely didn't need to know about the MC taking a dump nor the picking up of dog crap which was repeated several times during the book. This book could have benefited from some serious editing.Pogo

SO many details
I'd like to begin by saying this is the first book review I've done, although I've read hundreds of books on my various Kindles. I typically don't take a lot of risks with books, and there are sufficient reviews that what I would say has been repeated dozens of time. However, since there are so relatively few reviews on this one, I feel obliged to do so.Let me start by saying that this book has a good amount of graphic sexual detail, and definitely more male on male sexual detail than what I'd normally be interested in reading. So, in one way it's a positive that I was able to read this book despite this content. In general the story line was quite decent, although certainly not making it hard to put the book down. I went days in between reading sessions. So, why did I give it a 2? Simply put, the story line is absolutely smothered with unnecessary and boring details. And there were many repeats of the same phrase over and over. Not to mention the dialogue was completely unrealistic and often intolerable to read. If the story wasn't interesting, I wouldn't have lasted more than 15 pages without returning the book to Amazon...and I got it for free. I can't in good conscience recommend this book to others, not without some MAJOR editing and trimming down of the book.

Overall a very good read
overall I really enjoyed the story. in fact I ended up dreaming about the book several nights (I was trying to piece all the clues together). my only complaint is that the author needs a good editor working with him. there were a number of spelling issues as well as some places where the story didn't flow very well. also while I loved the incredibly detailed descriptions of architecture, design and fashions, I felt that it often got in the way of the overall story.several reviews mention the subject matter and how it was hard to read. much of it was disturbing, but I think it was meant to be and at the same time it was very honest.this sounds like I didn't really like it but quite the contrary - it is an incredible story that pulls you in and doesn't let you go. in fact I would love to have a sequel updating me on the various family members.

A must read
This book was awe-inspiring and quite graphic. The story was heart wrenching. This book is defiantly for mature readers that are okay stepping out of their comfort zone and really falling into a story. Characters were spectacular. Brothers, Billy and Philly were molested by Uncle Adrian at a very young age. After Billy is murdered, Phillip starts to unravel horrible secrets and murders. Phillip decides to solve this on his own for Billy's sake. The story line was pretty amazing about Billy's and Phillip's lives as well other family members, and friends they have meet throughout their lives. I found quite a bit of the content disturbing, but couldn't put it down. Really is a must read.

Don't Miss This Top Notch Story!
This is what a book should be. It has suspense, mystery, realistic dialogue, complex characters, a truly evil villain, and a twisty plot. I loved all the myriad details about the art world, hot yoga, history, politics and cultural references. I was right there in the story with Philly and Billy, my emotions going up and down, my curiosity piqued and my heart racing. I read a massive amount. I could not put this book down and I don't say that often. I immediately looked to see what else has been written by this author and was crushed. This was written in 2013 and it looks as though the author has found other pursuits. I wish you well, Jody Zimmerman, and I want to thank you profusely for writing this marvelous book. What an accomplished individual you are.

Could NOT fault this novel....
I simply can not tell you how much I enjoyed this book. While initially hesitant that I would enjoy it as the subject matter did take me out of my comfort zone I was completely enthralled.Blood Brothers is filled with fantastic writing, an utterly enthralling plot line and some of the best written characters I have read..While the book does touch on subject matters that some may find alien to them I assure any reader that the book is a fantastic read and you will not be disappointed. What the author has created is a compelling mystery...but also touches on child abuse and a heart churning and gut wrenching description of a subject that some authors would not be brave enough to bear their souls to. This book takes you on a journey and a journey that you will not want to end...and the ending....very well done. I recommend this book!
