American Voices Original Documents, Speeches, Poems, and Stories from American History

I really like this book. I first saw it at my local library and knew I wanted it for my home. My kids are all early elementary so some things I can’t cover yet but will be great through the years.

I teach history at a local homeschool co op, and I really wanted my middle and high schoolers to read original documents, not just about them from a history book, so I started looking to see how to accomplish it. This book will cover the next 2-3 years of American History for us! The editor did a great job of getting the best documents, speeches, poems, etc from US history and putting them all in this one book. It is very easy to use, and is a great all in one resource!

This is one of the best features of the Exploring America curriculum series. I would not do the program without it, unless you want to put a lot of time and effort in locating these pieces on your own.

Reading original American documents really gives an understanding behind the thoughts that have influenced our nation and brought us to where we are today. i would highly recommend this not only to the high school group, but to parents as well. Read and marvel at our heratage.

Necessary for the Exploring America Notgrass curriculum. Excellent college of speeches and essays.
