These pliers paid for themselves on the first use
I'm a homeowner, not a tradesman, but I'm a tool collector...I bought these when I caught them on a deal on Amazon. I simply unboxed them and laid them in a drawer in the toolbox, still connected to the retail hanging card.Last week I couldn't get the expansion tank loose from the pipe at the water heater. I decided to grab these for more torque. They did the trick. I didn't have to beg some friends to come over and muscle up on it nor did I have to call a plumber.

You don't need a set this big very often, but when you need them, you need them.
I've got a few smaller sets of Knipex Cobras, but I never really had a need for a 17" pair of Cobra XLs.I ended up needing to do inner tie rods on my truck (F150), and I didn't have a tie-rod tool, nor did I necessarily want to buy one that wasn't off a tool truck.I ended up buying this set of XL Cobras, and it saved me $300-$400 in labor costs alone. If you've ever used Cobras before, you know they grip onto pipe-like objects very well, and they don't let go. The longer arms of the Cobra XLs provide a LOT of torque.These inner tie rods were supposedly torqued to 85ft lbs from the factory, and after 10 years they were pretty well frozen in place, but the cobras got them out without issue.High recommend these pliers for certain automotive applications.

These work so incredibly there are no words to describe. Perfect fit in your hand and they latch on and make the job at hand easy. Just used them on my sons Volkswagen last night and they made the job so fast. From hose clamps to bushings these things bite into the task at hand and don't let go until you do. I am a tool nut and these things exceed any expectation related to workmanship and quality. I will keep adding to my collection. This is the third set of different Knipex pliers I have bought and they all work for their intended purpose and some they never thought of. Excellent grip strength.

Excellent Set of Pliers
Another excellent product from Knipex. These pliers work great for larger diameter items, I find them to be extremely useful for removing oil filters. They even fit 93mm filters. Would definitely recommend cobras to anyone looking to grip any round surfaces.
