I’m in love with this futon! The quality is amazing~ evenly stained wood, rich dark finish, thick firm-but-cushy mattress, gorgeous plush suede fabric. It came in two packages on the same day. I ordered it on a Saturday and it arrived the following Saturday. The mattress was tightly rolled up and I would advise having a large space when you cut it open because BAM it sort of explodes into its full size very quickly! The frame and all of the pieces were packaged extraordinarily well; each piece is color and number coded to match the instructions. There is a very clear, very concise instruction book included, and three packages of hardware. The hardware is sandwiched in pieces of cardboard with slots for each piece, and clearly marked which pieces of hardware you will need for each step. (I’ll advise you to cut the hardware packages open laying flat, if you cut them open any other way the pieces may tumble out of their slots and then you’ll have to match them up by the pictures in the booklet).The two main packages were pretty heavy and I had to get them up a flight of stairs to my apartment. I’m a very small 51 year old woman, 120 lbs and I’m not a particularly athletic girl, and I was able to do it without too much trouble by opening the frame package at the bottom of the stairs and carrying the pieces up one at a time instead of trying to muscle the entire box up the stairs. I was also able to assemble this completely by myself within 1.5 hours, with hardly any difficulty. When they say don’t tighten the bolts until the end of each step, they really mean it. It will save you some frustration if you follow that advice. The hardest part was getting the mattress onto the frame because it is very thick and bulky. Once I had it on, it settled into the frame nicely because the mattress is hinged. Be sure to read the tag that tells you which side of the mattress needs to sit on the frame.It is extremely comfortable to sit in. It feels very sturdy and came in perfect condition with no splits, cracks, scratches or flaws. There are no weird puckers or bad stitching in the fabric and even the zipper is very well placed and tidy looking.I highly doubt I will ever use it as a bed so I can’t vouch for that comfort or the complexities of moving it from couch to bed and vice versa.I love the muted colors and the way it fits into my decor. I highly recommend this futon for all these reasons. This is not a cheap sloppy dorm couch; it is quality and durable and beautiful in looks. Buy this, you will be very pleased and comfy.

Spare bed

Wanted to turn my living room into an office space when I’m not at my office and game area for my son. This futon is perfect for lounging around in and perfect for the intended use. Surprisingly extremely comfortable. Recieved in just a few days. Packaging was slightly difficult to open, which is a good thing about the product as it was perfectly packaged, resistant to damage. All in all, very satisfied with this product. May consider buying another one for my office.

Overall it is pretty darn nice. However, the frame is not really what I would call finished. It is just stained but not sealed. So pretty rough. I can see get a splinter. Not smooth and shiny as pictured. Assembly was difficult for my hubby who is a Maintenance pro. He almost threw out the hardware that was in a box that looked like filler. Mattress is very firm which I like, and color is great.

Was easy to assemble as long as you follow simple instructions. It fits very nicely in a small room that I have. I'm totally satisfied. As a matter of fact, I'm laying on it now. My getaway room.

I've been holding off writing a review for a few months now, because I wanted to be able to comment on the more long term quality and functionality of this futon.I've had it almost 6 months now. I am very happy with this futon.For me it's a good middle of the road futon as far as balancing price and quality. Obviously there are fancier, heavy duty futons... but they also cost way more. Then there are the super cheap futons... but they feel like it and usually fall apart fairly quickly.This one hits right in the middle, a more reasonable price for a good quality item.We mostly use it as a couch in my office, but we've also had guests sleep on it. It works well for both. My guest said it was comfortable to sleep on for the multiple nights she used it. And as a couch it's comfortable and doesn't take up too much room.It does feel sturdy and I think it will last a good while.As far as assembly I found it not too challenging. I did most of it myself, only needing help for the final step of hooking the large pieces together. Just pay attention to the instructions and you shouldn't have too hard a time.Hope this helpful, I spent a couple months trying to find and decide on this futon. I'm glad I did and am happy with the result!

Great product and delivery. Comfortable, easy to assemble and American Made!

The assembly was easy following the illustrations and notes. I did not view the video but, did after assembly The only glitch was the 4 W1 end caps did not stay in. I called Kodiak and they concurred. They had no recommendation, just leave the end caps off. They did not recommend gluing. Actually the caps make very little difference in appearance. The cushion looks good and thick. The zipper must stay in front (same as the Amazon picture shows). The cushion is very heavy. Two people needed to place it properly. 4 star only because of the end caps. I feel Kodiak could solve this if they wanted to. I recommend due to price and appearance
