Invaluable resource full of great recipes and information
This is an excellent book chock full of advice and information on how to eat well, eat tasty and reduce your cholesterol. I've tried most of the recipes in the book now and they are all tasty and filling. Tonight we had the chargrilled salmon with brown rice dill risotto and it was so delicious I was moved to post a review. One of my favourite parts of the book are the little 'quick and easy' sections, which are so useful when you're working all day and need to make something quick and healthy. And I loved the spice mixes from 'Herbie' - what a brilliant way to flavour up a simple meal. And the recipes are so simple! There's no messing about, and so far most of them have taken no more than half an hour to prep and cook (the brown rice risotto was an exception). There are different meal plans for those with time and those without. This book is well researched and full of invaluable information on how to adapt your eating habits to sort out your cholesterol problem, while still enjoying food. Five stars. Cannot recommend it enough.

Get lower
This is more of an informative book on cholesterol than a cookbook with recipes. A dietician and a home economist have written a lot of advice and information on cholesterol and how to lower it. Unless you know very little about cholesterol, most of the information in here is not different from what you might have learned from other sources.Information is given for the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, including extra resources for those countries. The book contains information on cholesterol and your heart, heart-friendly foods, what to eat and an eating plan. There are charts such as risks and cholesterol levels around the world and food vs. drugs. The information is clear. There are 271 pages in the book, less than 118 have recipes on them. Recipes include; breakfast and brunch, snacks, light meals, mains, desserts. There are pictures for some of the recipes. Each one tells a bit about the dish and nutritional information. We liked pistachio and almond biscuits, chicken cheese cashew and salad wrap, creamy mushroom and beef penne with salad and warm beef salad. This is a book for those who wish to learn about cholesterol and have a sampling of some recipes that will hopefully help your cholesterol levels.
