My First French Word Book (French Edition)

I want to raise my infant to speak both english and french so this is a wonderful book to help push us in that direction. The pages are colorful with cute pictures and labels in both English and French to help him understand as well as keep his attention as he gets older. My husband even finds this book helpful as he does not speak French but would like to learn (it is my second language). There are numbers, colors, and shapes. There are also pages with words based on the themes of clothes, body parts, food, the bedroom, the kitchen, the bathroom, the backyard, the park, school, the beach, animals, etc... I also ordered the French version of The Cat in the Hat (Le Chat au Chapeau). Ce livre est tres bon!

I do not have words to praise this book enough!! We have hundreds of books and my 17 month old son always goes for this one. His little face lights up when he sees it. We read it every night! The only thing I would change is the illustrations for the numbers in the beginning. They are a little strange I find and I would also add a few more pages with other themes. Overall though I would still give it 5 stars as my child loves it.

This book does provide pronunciation guides in the glossary. I will recommend this as a start. I'm glad my great-grandfather nephew's mother actually speaks French.

Though I bought this with my 4 and half year old in mind, my nearly two year old son just loves it. he is delighted with the pictures and first says them in Chinese (as we live in China), then I read the French name - he repeats it willingly . . . then I tell him the English. As an American, perhaps I need to change the order! Anyway, You'll enjoy this book for any child nearing two years old, and older.

I got this to start introducing the language to my two-and-a-half-year-old, and it serves the purpose well. The book introduces a number of vocabulary words, and the pictures are cute and bright.My son quite likes the book, and asks for it a lot.I will say that it's not ideal for parents who are learning French along with their child: there's a pronunciation guide in the back, but it's only so-so and a bit of a pain to turn to. My own French is also so-so, so I don't have too much trouble reading this to my son, but it would be a pain if I had to turn to the back more than once per page.I think this is a good book either to supplement a classroom, audio, or DVD language-learning program, or for a French-speaking parent to use with his/her child. Used alone, it's not quite enough to be helpful.

Her older brother is in kindergarten at a French school. She stays with me while mommy and daddy are at work, so I want to teach her the words for things in English and French. She's almost 1 1/4 years old and learning her first words. My 10 year grandson enjoys it as well and has decided to take a language next year..

My elementary kids take French as a 2nd language and I have them read every day for at least 30 minutes in each language. This book has been a wonderful addition to their French library.

My daughter (15 months) LOVES this book. As soon as she saw it, she wanted to read it and wants to read it about 6 times a day! It's really well made, very colorful and has big pictures. Under each picture is the word in French and English and you can find the pronunciation for each word at the end of the book.

Very colourful, big size, my son really likes it and keeps grabbing the book. Definitely recommend, I've been learning French for a while and there were some words I didn't know either

yes, I got the Book, in Time and I Purchase for my Grand Daughters. It is very Informative ,as dual language Book. one can lean other language easily.specially Young children.

I have been looking for a book like this for my grandson as his mom is English and dad French. It is colourful with all the basic words a young child needs to start a new language. The pronunciation guide at the back is great. It is a great buy and I couldn't be more pleased for a First French Book.

Pronunciation given on the last page of the book which is not good...

This is a nice book for a toddler. My grand-daughter loves looking at it over and over.
